You're right, we don't see eye to eye. You're not worth looking at.
Obviously, you can't see the point. All you can see is "underexposed", "messy hair", "lousy PS", etc.
And only pictures which are perfectly exposed, neat hair, well-PSed, etc. should be exhibited, everything else should be thrown into the trash can.
If the masters followed your advice 60 years ago, how much poorer would the world be? All the great masters work would be lost just because you say "sucks".
You are worse than not having a brain. You have no heart and no eyes and thus no appreciation of art.
you know. the first time i posted pictures on CS. i got slammed by DP. he pointed out anumber of things which i myself didnt see in the picture, including underexposure.
theres nothing wrong, with photographing it how u want. u can go to extremes and shoot super underexposed, blur grainy pictures, whatever. its your camera, ur photographs.
BUT, i dont think DP is saying, that there is only ONE way to shoot pictures i.e.. super exposed, clear, sharp, nice background, no messy hair. if you think that is it, you dont get the point.
the point he is getting at, which I agree, although not necessarily always with his delivery, is that before you go ahead and experiment with whatever theme or style you want, you should at least master the basics of portrait photgraphy.
what we have here, and in some other posts, are clearly not people who have mastered the basics. so theres nothing wrong with pointing that out. sure, it may seem commen sense, or it may see like people are ticking off a list, but for those new to photography, these are not things that are known to them, so theres nothing wrong with spelling it out.
