Change of gifts for 40D?

You worry that you might drop the lens is it? Never mind, I won't force you. Just let me know if you need it.

Don't think the 70-200mm is suitable for portrait. It's min focusing distance is 1.2 m which is rather long. It is more suited for street shots at a distance. I used it to capture subject without his or her knowledge - candid shots!
I use my 50mm f1.4 for portrait. Have not used the 135mm lens so not too sure.

1.2m is actually pretty ok cos i don't like to stick camera into ppl's faces. i am using the 85 at the moment. loving it. i use it for street as well. considering the 28 or 35 as well in the future.

True. No one likes to have the camera so near to his/her nose.

On another subject, just browse thru your posts and found you are selling the EF17-85mm IS. Is it sold? Was wondering to get that or Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 to replace my kit lens. Have read some good comment about that lens. Apology to TS for changing the subject of your original post.

Hi,

I have bought a 40D set from MS, when they first launch the 40D model, was told that the gifts were to be collected at a later date, which includes some DVD cdrom and a lens book.

Last night they called me that the gifts had been change by Canon Singapore from the lens book to a tripod stand, i was shocked to hear that, as i had 2 tripod already, no need for the 3rd ones.

Just want to find out if anyone share similar experience elsewhere, or is MS trying to play some tricks...

wow, i had also got the 40D on first day of launch, but then have not collected my free gifts.
They said will call me when ready.(few days)
but i went back aweek later to get a filter and before that i called about the free gifts and filter and was told that the free gifts was still out of stock.

BUT when i got there,I had got the filter and was going off, then i saw the guy i had bought my 40D from and asked him when the free gifts was comming, then he said they had stock NOW ! ... hmmm so strange... wonder what would have happened if I had not gone down to get my filter !!

It's natural when they don't have stock of the book anymore, they'll offer other freebies. I bought a 40D last month from John 3:16. They don't have the Lens Book III but the store manager promised me the new Lens Book IV once they have it.

There is actually the softcopy of the book available on the canon webby somewhere... saw it before. So... you still can have it for free really. :sweatsm:

Actually Best denki sells a bit more expensive than other shops. They can afford to give more freebies.
