Change of gifts for 40D?

Hi,

I have bought a 40D set from MS, when they first launch the 40D model, was told that the gifts were to be collected at a later date, which includes some DVD cdrom and a lens book.

Last night they called me that the gifts had been change by Canon Singapore from the lens book to a tripod stand, i was shocked to hear that, as i had 2 tripod already, no need for the 3rd ones.

Just want to find out if anyone share similar experience elsewhere, or is MS trying to play some tricks...

i was lucky to have bought my set from cathay because it seems only ms color is asking the customers to collect from canon themselves.

there is usually some small print in their disclaimer somewhere stating something like "free gifts could be changed/replaced with other items at their own discretion"

Actually few days back I checked and the canon website says that it is a tripod..

Actually I beg to differ. The book is very informative :thumbsup:esp if you want to know more about the uniqueness of the lenses. It has the tech stuff and sample photos and is good source of info for newbie like me. I refer to it quite often.

like i said, its all tech stuff. more like a marketing brochure to me. don't get brainwashed by it leh.

btw after seeing your portfolio, i hardly consider u as a newbie. :bigeyes:

I just happen to pick up those lenses when my pocket is deeper, yet to fully use/appreciate them, really.

The promo items varies from time to time. The tripod is the current promo. I bought my 40D 1/2 weeks ago which has the promo of lens workbook, eos bag, cf 2g and 20 pieces dvd-r. MS not lying as Canon Singapore is the one honouring the promo items. What you get depends on the date of your purchase and the promo item during that period.

The 70-200 F4L was bought second hand for $800 from a cser about 4 months ago. It is non IS.

Pocket no matter how deep, will end up "bochor" one day.:bsmilie:
