OK checked ebay and these are the two 1GB CF Cards on offer at the same price. Would like expert advice which is better choice.

- 1GB Compact Flash Card LEXAR WA 80x PRO

- 1GB Compact Flash Card SanDisk UltraII 2
I'll go for Sandisk Ultra II.

Anyway I saw Sandisk Ultra II 2GB CF being retailed at ~$55 at AJ Computers in SLS.

Thanks for the info. Any idea price for the 1GB?

I'll go for Sandisk Ultra II.

Brand new.

Lifetime warranty. That just means you get a 1-to-1 replacement. So what? It is not going to replace the potentially hundreds of photos on the card that is lost/corrupted. I don't mind paying more for a reliable brand. A busted card is the last thing you want when on a paid assignment.

the notion that a higher $ is a better quality product is true most of the time but not all the time. we must not be lulled by a false sense of security that since we paid a higher price the product must b good. we must still have backups - like NASA, where quality is supreme and cost is secondary, they still have backups to backup the backups.

sometimes, a higher priced product lose out to a lower priced product eg in the 80s, many cloned IBMs were cheaper, faster and higher spec than the original IBM. in electronics today, many of the different brands have the same origins, most notably: lcds n motherboards.

we do pay a premium for brand image irrespective of whether it is electronics, cars, fashion, foods etc

Oh yes of course. Not all the time. Like how Lexars are expensive but certainly not reliable (to me). :bsmilie:

For mem cards... I'd stick to Sandisk.

ya, lor, lot of people said lexar not good or not worth the price.

san disk has a big following. it must b doing something right.

kingston is offering a lifetime warranty 1 to 1 xchange is the main selling point. with this offer , it became a success.

to overcome the fear of card failure on an important assignment, we must use 2 cams or cams with simultaneous recording on 2 cards

Heh yes. Dual card slots and simultaneous write.
