CF Card Prices?

Just brought the scandisk ultra 16GB for $65 from cybermind yesterday.

thats really cheap considering the 8gb selling for 49 at IT show.

interested to get one ultra too, at 65 i rather get 16gb than 8gb. they only have branch at funan and simlim right?

by the way the difference between extreme and ultra is just the 30mb/s abd 60mb/s right? so if i dont require fast writing speed ultra should be enough for me...

Might be a bit late since you made your purchase already, for those not too particular about brands, you can get a 16GB Kingston CF for around $50 also.

Got it from Best Bargain in February, so might be even cheaper now.

yup, saw the kingston at that price too... but well i am used to sandisk :P

didnt take note of the 16gb since i rather get 2 8gb than 1 16gb. i am afraid of CF crashing

but in SimLim do prepare cash, cos cash always cheaper than cards even nets. i gotta borrow from my friend the cash since i didnt expect that. :bsmilie:

is that the Kingston CompactFlash Elite Pro 133X?
i made the mistake of getting the 8GB and it was horribly slow writing speed and i wasn't
even shooting burst.

This principle applies at most small businesses. No receivables. Immediate cash flow. Cash is King.

Guys,

Need your help on Kingston CF.
Went down to bexx barxxxx yesterday to check out the CF.
Notice that the so call Kingston CompactFlash Elite Pro 133X is only running at 150kb / sec as stated on the packing instead of 25MB/sec as mentioned on the Kingston website.
Just wondering which is the correct writing speed? or is it a fake product.
Price is around $108.

mind I ask if ur card reader is good enough to handle high speed reading?

Hi Egnaro,

May I ask why do I need a card reader when I can direct transfer pic from the camera?
Faster speed meaning effective continuous shooting.
You using Canon 7D. Aren't you concern on the speed the card able to give?
Anyway, my concern is if the Kingston website already mentioned the CF card should read and write at 25MB/Sec then why is the packing stated only 150Kb/sec? Could it be a fake in the market?

Dude... 150KB/s is the base rate.

In other words, 1x = 150KB/s

Thus, 133X = 133 * 150KB = 19,950KB = 20MB/s (Approximate)

This is in line with the statement at Kingston's website:

Writes up to 20MB/s
Reads up to 25MB/s

i always use a card reader to transfer pictures cos its just easier, no need to dig up for the data cable. And usually requires some time for it to initialise.

The only time when i used a direct camera connection was when i was using Fuji F30, I dun have a xD card reader. :)

You don't need to, its for convenience. I don't like my cables dangling around or having to dig for them to transfer files nor do I like the idea of the DSLR sitting on my small table waiting for me to knock it over.

I just bought the sandisk 8GB for $47.50 from SimLim, was quoted $55 @ CP
