Caution about Aipo Dry cabinets

Where did you guys get your hygrometer?

Irony isn't it. Bought from sgcamera store during their sale of the Aipo, now gotta get the hygrometer from them. So end up same as retail price and a load of headaches.....

well have to move on , Aipo is a brand that people should not be looking out for , no wonder the ex distributor Miss Mok , went MIA . Guess all these while Aipo must have given her too many problem that make her went missing .

she went missing because she was admitted to hospital for childbirth.
i know because i had my dry cabinet sent to back to her for repairs and the courier she engaged knows this.
since then, i haven't seen my dry cabinet.

If i'm getting readings close to 45%, I'm happy with that. I'll adjust the settings and see if the humidity gets lower.

I was reading off the internet that for some of the AIPO cabinets, the lowest possible RH is 35%.
Your offset of 45% vs 56% is about 11%.
Technically if you reduce RH 45% to RH 35%, the improvement is by RH 10% i.e. you don't really meet your target of RH 45% but is very close to it.
Another consideration is also temperature change affecting %RH. I was reading when temperature decreases, %RH increases.

Not sure how much relation it has, but here is an adapter recall from across the causeway.

but i guess the power supply will not help at all , as my friend has change 4 times before finally give up the brand .

As far as I know, I don't have any problem and my gears all look clean and healthy. I only found out recently that the humidity may not be the exact reading shown on the LED display.

A little update. I adjusted the settings on my aipo dry cab at 34% now the reading on my analog hygrometer is 45ish %

Perhaps you might want to try to get another adaptor to see if the issue can be resolved.

You can exchange/repair your unit/adapter with the distributor at Waterloo Centre.
I did send in for repair and they just changed the adapter for me FOC.
The set I bought was from the previous distributor and it is really good service from the new distributor. The cause of the reset problem seems to be power adapter.

My dry cab didn't really give me any problem. Only found out that the humidity inside the dry cab may not be exactly what the hygrometer on the dry cab is showing. So I got myself an analog hygrometer, calibrated it then leave it in my dry cab which I later found out that the humidity is 11% off 45% which I have set on my dry cab. That's pretty much my story... not sure about the rest.

That's great service by the new distributor !
AFAIK, such AC Adapter are using switching, which could probably explains the reset symptoms.

Just realized about this thread today. I'm using AIPO dry cab too. After changing my power adapter once due to the LED meter keep flickering before, it didn't happen to me already and everything seems to work very well. Am I safe enough?

I suggest you get a humidity meter to verify your setting if you had not done so.

After reading this thread I was a little worried about my Dry Cabinet. So I contact SGCameraStore to ask about the warranty issue.
They directed me to call 63368315 - Raymond.

Raymond was very helpful and friendly. He told me about the situation of the adapter and encourage me to bring it down.

He did a check and told me to play safe, I should change the adapter at a price of $15 and leave it there for a couple of days for him to monitor.
Of course i paid the $15 and get a peace of mind.

Comparing the brands, I still prefer Aipo despite the recent 'problems'. It still works after the exchange. I also suggest everyone to get another hydrometer just to check the cabinet once in awhile.
u can get it from the internet web stores like dealextreme for only USD $8 inc of delivery.

I am quite glad of there is still support for this Brand.
