Would mind sharing....what lens was used for the shots?

I would have guessed a zoom lens of some sort was used.

Just follow the link by clicking on the picture back to my flickr site. I have tagged my pics with the equipment I use for each shot. You can see wat I used for each of the shot. :)

Wow if i can get this near to the cats and use a tele lens i can well capture the cats right in the eyeballs.

You can actually... just be cool and dun startle them... most of the times, they are pretty friendly and will want to play. Sometimes they get so close to me I can't even shoot them...:bsmilie:

Yeh can relate to what you commented. Its either they get freaked out and you take no photos or they get friendly until your hands are full and you can't take their photos too.

I am not familiar with a 50mm prime (non macro) but say with a minimum focusing distance of 0.45m and magnification ratio of 1:5 or 1:6 against the size of a cat's eye whether it will be possible to capture much close up details, presumably of course the cat stay stills and all other odds negated. But with a telezoom (say 200mm, 55-200mm, 70-300mm) even with lower magnification ratio zooming in can capture much details. But for these lens unless they are also 1:1 macro lenses or with close up attachment capturing much smaller subjects (e.g smaller insects) in details may not be that appropriate.

I've used a 70-210 lens for butterfly shooting too, and it gives a slightly better reach for those butterflies which are more skitterish and I can't get too close to them, so it can still work, but definitely not as good of a macro reproduction. :)

Can consider a 90mm macro for such close ups
