Cases for Leica M?

Anyone has any experience of "ever-ready" camera cases for Leica M? I would like to get one but the prices from overseas are very high. I wonder if I can get them locally (non-Leica branded preferred) or if there are any leather craftsman in Singapore that can do it.

Any comments?

The every-ready case uses tripod collar to secure to the camera one right?
If this is the case, Nikon FM2/FM3a case will not fit as the tripod position of Leica rangefinder and Nikon SLR is different.

in case u guys didn't know, there's another name for such ""ever ready" cases...and that is....

the "NEVER-ready case" ..... and for that and other obvious reasons (principally, one of film changing considerations), i don't think it's very useful!

I knew about the alternative name of "never-ready cases"!

Actually, I am only interested in the lower part of such cases.

The reason I might like to get one is that many of my well-used cameras, past and present, have their backs "defaced". I usuall carry a camera and walk around hanging it in front of me or slinging across, that caused scratches quite a bit. I don't like a camera just hiding inside my bag, even when I go outing with my family. My previous Konica Auto S3 has one that comes with it and it works wonders against my abuses.

I'm not pro, so film changing is not an issue. If film changing is an issue, I will not opt for a Leica , especially the slow rewinding MP!

I got the latest version of it and I think it's really great, and like glchua, I don't have to switch film so often, so the case is perfect for me. Slipping the front cover off takes a bit of practice and seasoning for the leather, but it gets pretty quick soon. Also, remember to keep the dangling front cover from getting into your shot, especially when you're pointing the camera downwards... But with the case, I'm ready to bash around with the camera outside my bag now

I do the same for the Contax G2. Using the lower part of the case is a good protection against accidental scratches and light bumps. It also improve the gripping of the camera...

Sadly the case never comes cheap, if can be found at all...

Just got one from Oteonghn, the original soft leather Leica version. The base of the lower case is thick and once attached to the camera, improves the handling. At least my left hand is more "at ease" when focussing the 35 cron (focussing lever, dislike that) and the right hand has a better grip.

The upper part of the case seems roomy and will protect the camera and small lens from knocks I guess. Not too difficult to open and shoot too.

Glad you are pleased with your purchase. That case has been with me for all these years, in the cupboard collecting dust !!!
