Carrying 2.5 kg through the street, Howto?

I m abt 68kg,1.7m with a big round belly, but i normally just sling a crumpler 7 million with abt 8kg of gear and walk the whole day without difficulty... Overseas abt 10kg walk the whole day, so 2.5kg very easy la, can be done...

I carry 1d + 70-200 and a spare battery is much heavier than that, but usually just attach a 50mm 1.8 only, less conspicuous, I hold in my hand all day, if shooting street, piece of cake. That doesn't include a few 1.5l drinks or models luggage bag. Try it, grows beard on your face.

Last July i carried 5D & 7D both with grip plus 17-40 & 70-200 attached walking around Sepang circuit for 4 full days shooting Shell Eco-marathon..so 2.5kg is not much a problem la bro..must enjoy what we do..

Zplus & KangS Thank you for the recommendation!
This is my system i intend to do street shooting:

Holy Moley... that is one BIG lens... You sure you are shooting streets?

you guys are awesome. I carry my 500d with 50 mm 1.8 already very tired.

i have given up on 300mm, max only goes 135mm. 300mm reserved for stars/birds since its can only manual focus.

2.5kg is considered light, I usually carry a lot more than that on my photoshoots.

Maybe change your lens to the new EF 70-300mm L... Would have change my 100-400mm L to this lens if I could find a good price for it... LOL.

I guess you have made your choice.

I just think perhaps it is the bulk that bothers you, and not the weight. 2.5kg is honestly light. I have gone hiking with heavier equipment and did fine. And I'm pretty sure the bag I carry around is that weight too. Not breaking much of a sweat, unless it is under the afternoon sun.

actually some 2nd hand for the 70-300L are at around $1.5k, quite good IMO..

hmm.. maybe I got poor memory. :(

All the while the 70-300L is priced at $1.9k+. Highest last time when i first asked was from CP at $1999.

haha 70-300L is priced similar to 70-200 f/4L IS all the while, only difference is that the resale value for 70-300L is higher. Furthermore 70-300L does not come with lens code so less worries on lowballers quoting unreasonable price :bsmilie:

I think I bought it when it was the most expensive.. cos I remembered it was damn close to $2k. :(
