Just bought a 70-200 lens from my uncle recently and one of my friend suggest i should "Carbonization" my lens to protect it as I'm very reckless, thought it was a good idea but try searching clupsnap but no results found and try googling it and they only show Carbonization of lens hood only, anyone in Singapore was Carbon fiber their lens before? if so I will like to ask where can I get this done and is it applicable to the lens hood only or it can be apply to the lens body as well?

Hi,
Try a search with key word "gaffer tape"..
Maybe that's what you're looking for..

"Carbon Fiber" adhesive sheets, even the good one from 3M, are not real carbon fiber. It is faux carbon fiber. And the adhesive agent will leave a residue on the surfaces you stick them on. And when stuck to PVC material, may cause chemical reactions over time that defaces the plastic's surface and form a "gooey" substance. Gaffer tape is slightly different, because the adhesive agent is made from latex, and will not react with any PVC material. But do not be fooled that Gaffer tape will leave no residue when removed. Gaffer tape can still leave residue if left too long on your camera or lenses.

Personally, if I see a lens or piece of equipment covered in "carbon fiber" material, I will not buy it. But that is just me. Some people loves it. But for protection? No, it doesn't protect that well. Best protection? take care of your stuff and be mindful when handling them.

Are you refering to this one? You can get the 3M sticker from motorcycle accessories shop if you want to DIY. I think there are a few members here that provide gaffering services. Check out his thread http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/threads/527931-Gaffer-Tape-the-Camera!?p=6719238#post6719238
