Wonder who is the is nick shouting guru and the nick of the guru at the back of the hall.

Overall, I felt that the event could be done better.

As an IT professional, i felt that the registration is a total disappointment and felt like the 80's. They have 10 apple computers back there, couldn't they have used the computers for registration rather than just use printed papers and look for name manually?

Even using simple excel spreadsheets and searching for IC numbers could speed up registration. Even better if they can use barcode scanners.

My suggestion would be that they ask everybody to print a copying of the confirmation and bring along, the confirmation could have a barcode on it.

One question, do they have to confirm what camera u use?

By the way hor, I was wearing a Red shirt and jeans :P

Yup totally agree. The organiser seems to have overlook a few aspect, the obvious one is that when they announce the winners at 10+pm, everyone wants to see the pictures and they actually have the pic on their computer but took them a while to get their act together to flash it up. But I think the apple staffs are good, friendly and helpful.

They did make it clear that the judges' decisions are final, cos I do think some of the short lsted pictures are really not connected to the theme. And they make it so clear that one of the judging points is relevant to the theme. Even thou I must say all the short listed photo are very high standard, just that some are not to theme... well that's just my opinion of course.

I think everyone who were there enjoyed themselves thou running around and taking picture. For a day you see so many photographers at orchard road for the 3rd theme "Fashion in Action"... ha ha :bsmilie:

I was there too with my gf...we were originally so hyped up about everything but it just seems that the committee overlooked so many things. So many people actually took great effort come back within the time and all but they are just some people who could like turn up at least half an hour late for loading...they should just disqualify this people...makes no sense to make a few hundred people wait for a small group of stragglers...maybe it's like not made a big deal in the name of the good spirit of photography..but in the spirit of sportsmanship..damn sad leh...

I actually think as the organizer, they should lead by example.

The actual registration started late, the announcements of theme came late as well.
if they are not able to get things done on time, why should the ppl be on time then?

Wearing of Canon vests, for security purposes? I disagree with it.
I was "told" to wear my vest when i was in the line to upload my pictures.
Why did they bother with the security purpose of identification of us being in the marathon, when we are already in the line for uploading pictures?

I wish the organizer would look into how they can make the Marathon better next year.

I am not flaming, just suggesting. (I know u guys do read!)

BTW any one out there know what is the Consolation prize? the 21 other Short-listed winning shots?

i think they should have pushed the timings back by 30 mins for each assignment, since the assignment 1 theme was only announced at 9.30am instead of 9.00am. This would have made absolutely no difference because they were still accepting photo submissions for assignment 3 at 9.30pm when it should have closed at 9.00pm. Wearing of Canon vests cannot really be enforced, but I think the organisers can appeal more strongly to the participants to wear the vest at all times to give face to the Canon sponsor. I agree that the use of a bar code reader to read the IC's will speed up the registration process considerably.
