Canonet QL17 not firing at A mode

Hi everyone. I just bought a QL17 from a nice chap yesterday. Loaded the film but I'm only able to shoot at manual mode, I can't use it when it's it auto aperture mode. Not able to depress the shutter release. Can anybody advise? Thanks

auto mode cant fire? isit due to the expsoure, you got check the meter, if overexposed or underexposed it cant fire (when set on "A" the shutter won't fire if the needle is in one of the red zones), I might be wrong. Best is you call the seller and check with him

Try taking out the battery and putting it in again. Mine does that sometimes, so I have to remove the battery and put it in. Press the red "Check" button to make sure the battery is working. Did you check the battery light when you were buying it? Did the seller show you that it is working?

It's working fine now.

Make sure you put a lens cap on, or change to manual mode when done or your batt will go flat
