Canon Vitacon 0.45X Wide Angle/Macro 58mm Converter

Last 2 weeks, a friend of mine bought Vitacon 0.5X wide angle converter from Alan Photo Funan.
That costs S$280. Is it worth that cost?

Kindly read thru the thread then u tell me

i have i 0.5X wide angle/macro converter..
if not mistaken 58mm due last time use at a330 sony.
use less then 2weeks due to change to conon after 2 weeks buy a330.

If anyone want just let go to you 70SGD...

dun get frm those ah beng shops..they are ripped off.. convertor over 180..made of crystal ar? haha

look, its logic, a lens (be it of a p&s or slr lens) cost what it cost because of the number of elements, quality of the elements, design of the elements, electrical & electronics components etc.

now look at a wide-con, how does it compare to a lens with regards to the factors listed above? is it of a more complicated design?

if they are that good, why lens makers bother to produce wide angle lens?

see, simple logic.

u can understand why a lens with IS / VR etc cost more than one without with a similar focal range & aperture,
u can understand why a faster lens cost more than a slower lens with a similar focal range.
u can understand why a lens with UD / FL / ED etc elements cost more than one without with a similar focal range.

so i find it difficult to understand why one can suddenly fail to apply same logic when it comes to wide-con.:dunno::dunno:

It is a very expensive lesson learned but it will (hopefully) last a long time. So from that angle it is worth SGD 280. But from photographic point of view ... SGD 280 wasted. Perfectly Vita-conned.

Peeps,

Can I use this Vitacon 0.45X Wide Angle/Macro Converter on my 18-55mm lens.

Please kindly guide me as I'm new to DLSR world~~~:)

tks...

Read the thread dude ....

Basically, unless you're getting it almost for free .... don't even bother. :nono:

the problems with all this is that people who know nuts about photography wants to jump into buying a DSLR bcos its cheaper nowadays and everyone is having one~!!! (somehow i'm always very sianz when every tom dick n harry is carrying a DSLR, even when they know nuts)

then go to a shop n kana sweet talked into buying it for $200+ instead of spending $900 on a wide angle lens...

then come here n complain...

I think $300 is worth it for a lesson, if the person learn it well. This may saving him thousands in future and to be more careful with his money.
