Welcome to the dark side...? :bsmilie:

Sure, no problem, if any folks need any help with coordination thingy, PM me, will be glad to lend a hand :)

Patience, my fellow Jedi.

In order to make this coffee session a long-term thing, we need to plan and then execute. I am sure that you don't want something that is just for show, hit and run type or just a session to show off your equipment.

I am aiming for a longer term, say bi-weekly coffee session/gathering for Canon Users. Something that is enjoyable by everyone, something that would be learnt by newbies or anyone in doubt, etc.

Last but not least, I propose that the first session would only be held once we have hit 100 Canon Users responsed to a 'Yes' answer for the above poll. Yes, it takes time to reach the target but at least it gives us time to plan, and to show whether it is worth the effort to organise such an event.

Yes, long-term will be GREAT:thumbsup:

sound good for canon users.. when will that be? keep me informed... :)

Great idea...especially for us newbies. It will be great to learn from everyone.

Right! Do keep me inform on the meet up dates and location! ;)

wah.. i also wan to join.. but have to fit it into my schedule liao.. lol.. work until very no time for shooting..

With the poll showing 55 Canon Users responded to a 'YES', we shall start planning while waiting to reach the target.

Volunteers are needed in order to run the event in the long term. Don't worry about commitment. Everyone will take turn, so it won't take up too much of your time.

Logistics Required

1) 17" inch Notebook with installed DPP or Adobe CS2/3
2) Tripod
3) Pan Head
4) Cable Release

Cameras and lenses are not an issue since some of you would be bringing along.

Photography Clinic

How to test your lens whether it is suffering from front/back focusing problem? Is the tolerant limit acceptable?

Each session, 3 lenses will be tested. (Due to time constraint, we can't possibly spending the whole night testing lenses). Anyone who thinks that his/her lens is suffering from the above phenomenon can bring the lens down for testing. Proper techniques of testing is required. Many a time, we heard users complaining that their lens is soft, etc. It could be the lens or the user fault (camera/hand shake, DOF, slow speed, lighting, etc). We need to eliminate the variances.

Photography Lesson

1) Canon cameras typically have 4 modes of metering, namely evaluative, partial, spot and center-weighted. So which one to use under what situations?

2) How to read MTF charts?

3) Should I get an IS lens? Anyway to get around it?

4) Is Mirror Lock-up a must?

5) What are the various methods to shoot macro subjects other than delicated macro lenses?

More topics will be added as time goes.

I strongly recommend members who are attending the session to bring along their work (photos) to illustrate their points, etc.

Besides drinking kopi, chit-chating, we should also learn something from one another.

How come I can't vote on the poll? I vote for a yes!

great idea, as I am confuse by all the functions and technical terms for taking good photos...........

Depend on the location Think i can provided tripod and cable release (wire/wirless) haha ... laptop .... err .. not very big screen .. haha .. but hope the date and time falls on my Off day .. hahah .. looking forward on this meeting.
