Yeah, I did. It was a deal in my Gold Box. It was listed as out of stock, so I thought I'll order and think about it. Next thing I know, it shipped. It'll arrive this Friday.

The day before, I was offered a 70-200mm f/2.8 IS for US$1500. I think Amazon is trying to ruin my marriage :bsmilie:

In my defense, I heroically resisted buying the 70-200 (though it's going to keep me awake at night, trying to decide if I should have bought that instead of the 100-400), and one purchase is not a "spree" :bsmilie:

I really, really hope they don't offer me the 180mm macro at a discount any time soon...

Speaking of the 180mm macro, the other day Best Buy (big retail chain) listed it online, by mistake, at about US$200. A ton of people (no, I wasn't one of them) jumped in and ordered, and got their order cancelled when the store realized their mistake.

C'mon, there has got to be more interest than this? For those sitting on the fence, it'll be fun and instructive. Get to meet your fellow CSers, and learn something new or teach others something.

Anyway, at around 4 p.m. the UPS truck showed up with my 100-400mm. To my surprise there is a fine coat of black dust on a couple of parts of the barrel. But it is otherwise in pristine condition. Took it to the backyard to shoot some "wildlife" but the birds seem to be camera shy. Fortunately the squirrels are more co-operative. This fox squirrel (I think) is pausing just before raiding my bird feeder. 400mm, 1/50 sec, f/6.3, ISO 200, handheld. Best of 4 shots.

Aiya. Would like to come (newbie Canon user, 450D kit) but friend's graduation ceremony is then. And I'll be taking photos there, too!

Need tips for low-light photography with 70-200 F4L that I borrowed - what if camera wants shutter speed too low (1/25, 1/30) for focal length? ISO already boosted to 1600 and F/4...
