Hi CSers

at AP, S$730 without memory card. can support up to 4GB.

going to use it for video recording.

Any comments on this model?

Thanks :)

sounds promising...travel all in one tool? camera for void deck band MTV?

will go and try to get my hands on one to try.... ;p

the Sanyo xacti looks nicer leh...:dunno:

Is this already on sale? If so, where, pls?

Thanks Calebk. Any idea of prices?

South Asia was selling it at 749, i think.

Most of the shops in Sim Lim are really very dodgy. I randomly recce some stores and asked around about the TX1 price. Some quoted me S$1099 and told me its a discounted price already. LOL!

I thought dodgy was a household word over there, with the exception of a few shops.

Oh yes dodgy indeed. Even buying memory cards can possibly land you in a world full of suprises. But as usual, with the exception of a few shops. ;)

Again, let me reiterate again to all loving electronic good shoppers to do your homework first. Cheers!

PS: I forgot to mention that Alan Photo quoted me S$730 for the TX1.

It's out for sale in Singapore already? I thought it'll arrive some time later.

Any user care to share if it's good? :)

Can try it out at the Funan Mall or Vivo city Canon outlet....

Note: The price quoted at AP is without the memory card...

:)

If you want to view movie in HD you got to get the cable which is not included.

tried it and was very impressed with the handling and functions. it was a sweet tool to hold and use.

but got a big let down when i went back to check the stills and video i shot. i won't go into the stills as they were shot on auto mode with auto iso in the brightly lit shop with flash on.

what disappoint me badly was the TX1 couldn't hold focus for video when i did a slow pan from left to right and there was no interference (ie, people walking across the lens etc).

Is the TX-1's image and video quality compromised? Can't be as good as an Ixus digicam?

the video quality is very good. its HD. the colour is natural but a bit oversaturated. the only problem is the focus hold. it loses focus easily.

the stills imho isn't as good as those from ixus digicam.

bring a sdcard along and shoot some stills and video and see for yourself.

and 4gb... can only get 13 mins of video right?

actually i am not too sure about how much video you can get but with a 512mb test card set to 4:3 video at 640x480 30fps showed about 1hr of duration available on the screen.

btw, the video file extension is avi which is strange as HD should be m2t. they also save a thm file by default.

i tried both 4:3 and 16:9 formats and all video files were avi. i guess its not true hi-definition but i am only guessing.

maybe the focusing performs better outdoor but you don't find camcorders focus running during a slow pan....even indoors. damn wasted. really love this cool unit.
