Is the service centre still selling the old model?

Its the Tripod Mount Ring A II. You can get it at Cathayphoto.

If I remember correctly, 2 weeks ago, Cathay quoted me about $190, with a grin on the uncle's face haha...ya I still can't find sense out of this. Gonna settle for a 3rd Party one which should cost no more than S$60, lots online like eBay. Does the exact same thing and made with the same thing....I guess, a metal piece, with black felt on the inner ring.

Yupp me also going for the 3rd party one :) still waiting for it

What's the diff?

oh. i heard that the mark II ones have smaller tightening screw which may be difficult for some clumsy fingers like me... :bsmilie:

where can i get these third party tripod mounts for the 70-200 f/4L IS USM? anyone with experience with it?

Orient Photo has both type I and II. Can check it out quality is good. They have the original Canon too.

I meant they have both 3rd party n Canon originals

how muuch would the 3rd party/canon cost?

I think ranging from $50-$90. Depends on its quality.

Last check I remember Canon serv ctr no longer holds stock for sale of the original ones. They also ask me to go CP or AP.
