Brother first of all congratulation for your newborn! With that you have all reason to buy the wide angle lens! You will never regret! 5yrs back I purposely bought digital cam for my daugther full month!

so far managed to find a shop selling the adaptor @ $55 after we bought the S3.
never check the price for wide converter

You can check out the Raynox lenses, some of them are quite good. I have seen shots with the SRW-6600-58 wide adapter, they are quite good. Easier to get also, my friends Canon Wide lens took abt two months to arrive. You can have a look at sample pics here. They are for the S2IS, its the same lens, so you will get the same distortion etc with the S3IS. Also, there is a Raynox supplier right here on clubsnap. Or you can just PM Morphis.

You also might want to get a slave flash, so you can bounce it off the ceiling for better lighting.

Raynox 6600 .66x 52mm looks good, with least barrel effect, but the corners are abit blur leh.

S2 IS and Tiffen .75X 43mm has sharp image, but barrel.....how? Ha!

Most people I know with the S2 get the Raynox. They just released a new wide adapter, Im waiting for people to buy it & post pictures.

Hahaha :bsmilie: Nah, I just want to check out the quality of the pics. If they are decent, Ill get the new wide angle converter. I shoot more for fun & memories, so dont mind a bit loss in picture quality due to the converters.

I think the Wide Converter would be most useful. On several occasions, I had difficulties trying to include everyone in the group photo in an enclosed room. I have some questions:

1. Is it easy to put on/off the adapter and converter? Or do I leave it on the camera?

2. If I leave it on the camera, does it affect any other function? All functions including zoom still work? Can the lens cover fit?

3. How does the camera look like with the adapter and converter? Any pictures?

4. The adapter and converter are listed at $59 and $199. Will the 3rd party products be cheaper?

I am still waiting for someone to advise me on items 1 & 2 leh. If anyone of you buys the wide converter, can let us take a look?
