If your shutter speed showing above 1/125 sec then I think it is quite ok
for handheld shots. Anyway your IS will come into play..?
But to play really safe...try taking more than one shot if you found a good
picture composition. Have fun !!

I ever tried before going down to 1/20 and the picture still manages to come out super sharp, no shake at all. The IS works like a charm.

Kegler: I bought mine at AP $770 with the free 256mb CF card collect from Canon Singapore and air purifier. You dun really need a high-speed CF card unless you intend to take video clips quite often. Even then the normal-speed Sandisk CF card they gave me works just as well when I tried taking videos, no lag what-so-ever.

i got mine for $769 with standard package and free 256mb cf card.

I would say its a good idea (the default lens cap sucks big time, drops too easily), I've been thinking of getting it for my S1 for a while, but tight on cashflow recently..and yes you need to get the lens adapter 1st. 3rd party lens adapter are still not out yet, so you will have to get the original Canon if you buy now. AP quoted me $45, and CP quoted me $59 hmm.....

The wireless remote control also cost abt $45.....i think it is also worth getting.

what do you guys mean by 'stucked pixel'?
does it happen to all canon cameras?
have also read that the batt heats up very fast after some time...any other probs encountered by anyone on the ixus 500?
i'm very interested in getting the ixus 500 to replace my casio QV-R3 (a very old model), would appreciate feedback on this...thanks!
