Thank you, Ortega!

There is something I notice in the present camera(for easier reference, I shall call this camera "A75#2" and the camera before the exchange "A75#1"). The A75#2 produced an audible "clicking" sound when zooming in and out the lens. I don't know how to describe the sound but I don't remember hearing this sound with A75#1!

It appears to be a problem of the mechanical part(s) in the zoom mechanism. Is it normal? :dunno:

It could be a firmware upgrade. When you open the CF card cover, do you see a black dot at the cover? new upgraded A75s have this black dot.

No, I didn't see any black dot on the cover. Is the black dot printed on the Compact Flash cover? Or was it simply a black dot marked using a marker pen?May I know where you'd got the "firmware update" information from? Which web site? A black dot can be easily marked by anyone who knows about the firmware update thing. How should one ascertain that the firmware in the camera is genuinely updated? Perhaps there is a firmware version, ex. ver 1.3???

New test that I did:
I was not satisfied with the image sharpness I got out of the A75#2 so I took a shot of a piece of paper that is printed with square grids.

The image turned out to be unsatisfactory to me. Could it be another problem of the A75#2? If you notice, the edges of the image were blurred. I think the middle of the image is ok but the edges of the image was blurred and the lines of the girds were curved(the lines on the paper were all straight lines!).

Is the level of "distortion" acceptable?

Here is the image:

My newly purchased A95 oso comes with this sound. Must be the tiny gears moving when zooming in/out.

Any gurus here can comment on this?

Hi Greenarrow2k4,

May I have your opinion of the macro shot above(the one with square grids)? May I request you to also set your camera to the settings described and see if you'll get a similar image. The nearer the camera is to the square grid, the more obvious the curvatures. Parhaps you could try taking a shot on a piece of graph paper?!

It would be great if you could post the image here for reference.

Regards.
