Just one query to the A80 users if you guys do not mind I posting technical questions. Do you guys experienced too deep a blue hue when taking blue objects (objects suppose to be purple seen as blue in the photograph)?Or is it some silly settings I missed?

first thing is to check your white balance, make sure it is set correctly. the other is to check your monitor calibration. what may in fact be purple could appear blue on your screen.

which will be the right white balance to set then? I was at auto initially but set to daylight, still the same outcome. The purple flower I took at macro turned out to be blue even at the A80 display.

had you try to set the WB to custom with a white paper ?

hmm thats something new to me, please do teach an idiot like haha. Anyway can I join you guys tomorrow?

hm ok
just try out with some purple colour stuff (post some sample here later)
ya there seem to be a problem with the auto white balance
so i do a custom WB setting
you notice that there is a few WB setting option right
go to the custom setting
now get a plain white paper
put it in front of the lens (not too close) so that you see your screen is all white (may not be that "white" if there is problem with the auto WB setting in some condition)
press "set"
ok now you should see it is a "white" screen

then take photo with this setting

hope you understand me .... ;p

Thank you for the guidance, I did tried out the method you taught. The effect is still the same. Purple objects turned out to be blue. Will post a picture of a purple cover book in a minute.

alechim, did you turn on the Vivid colour mode? Turn if off if you do.
I normal let my photoshop do the White Balance..hehehe..too lazy to adjust custom sometimes

that rare
cos after i set to custom WB then slove the problem already
anyway if you are interested you can join us for the A series meeting on 22nd aug

PS can only correct the WB properly if you shot in RAW. If JPEG the metadata (e.g. WB setting) already written into the image so cannot be changed "properly".

Vivid setting was off.. I had put a piece of white paper and even white T-shirt infront of the camera to customised the white balance. The overall colour turns out to be better but the purple still turns out to be blue.

tried many methods and its still the same results. Never mind then.

I gonna give tomorrow outing a miss, something on last minute. Maybe next time. However I will on the bridge tomorrow to shoot some fireworks.

want to join the a series meeting on 22nd Aug ?

you using full manual by setting focus, aperture and shutter speed? yah well do some processing in photoshop to get the colours and exposure closer and then stitch.

Yeap.. full manual setting. But i think the only way to get all proper exposure will be when the sun light is on top of me. So there won't be any direction that have more sunlight than others :P

Anyway... using photoshop to adjust is not that hard lah ^_^

still problematic because of the the scenery and sky would present different overall brightness. I think in PS there is a function to set the same colour balance or curves or something across a series of pictures so they look more "balanced".

I did encounter this problem before. That was during the Dream car show last time. The purple will become blueish . But only certain kind of purple. I also dunno what happening to it.

You all should try Alexandra Hospital too...
