what should it be? more than 2k? Probably that's before GST?
But one strange thing is that that's the only lens that is selling relatively cheap here in Spain. It's about 945 euros after tax. That's like S$1900.
The rest is like crazy. For example, the 16-35 costs about 1400 euros here - about S$2800!!!

Wonder how local shop like Cathy Photo will take advantage of GST increment to increase the prices of lenses.
Too Late: gotten most of my lenses from CP before I know this list.
When I decided to buy 135L a few months ago, I decided to give a phone call to CP, got quote of $1350. But when I purchased in their shop was asked to pay a special low offer of $1400. When I question the salesman the difference he said: must include GST. When I happen to search this pricelist I was very upset, all the lenses are overcharged. The next time (two months ago) I went to CP again to buy ex430 flash, I told the salesperson why my price different from this price list according to their CP price, he smile and quoted me ex430 grey only $410.
Most people buy from them because they think CP is the cheapest. Their tactic: the exorbitant price tag they attach to their item, it gives us wrong impression that we have purchased our items cheap and then come to them again, again and again. But actually, there are better shops around. Most people will not even know forever they have paid much more (e.g. my tokina 100mm macro was happily paid $675, because price tag was way much more). Can you imagine they quoted me the hood of ef28mm = $75 to 80! I decided to shop around and order from a shop in Funan that order for me @$35.
I regretted knowing this site too late. They are better sellers here. In case anyone wants to buy from CP, must question them why the price is so different from this list and never give in to them using GST to explain their higher price.
Someone of good authority must tell them to take off those ridiculous price tag.
Sadly all my lenses must rate below 9, even how well they perform because all overpriced.

Wahhh, how come I never get such prob from cathay? Most of the time when they have promotion/good offer it better than most other shops when I call around. :dunno: But yes, sometimes their prices rip-off one.

Hi all,
I have just joined this group, and it was fascinating to see the large particiapation and I am convinced that this group truly represents the "Singapore photographer".
The various prices quoted here, are quite accurate and looking at the huge premiums you guys are being charged locally when compared with prices in the USA, I wonder why this does not get addressed either by Canon Singapore or the local shop keepers ? Also, why would any of you agree to pay such a differential ?
I know, the usual blah blah from the dealers/traders about how "insignificant" local market is when compared but surely a mass response from a group like yours must produce some results ?, Maybe bandh could open a local branch here ??

I bought it for S$2550 (paid by credit card) from Cathay in last week Sep'06. If you pay by cash, you can probably get it around 75 bucks lesser.
