Canon lens prices drop

To be safe especially for those supertelephoto lens, it's safer to buy locally with warranty covered.
Just check from bhpphoto and amazon web site the sale price for 800mm is about us14k, when u add import tax and courier, it's equals to S$19k, that exclude grey market set.

Hmm.. where is the source of this price drop? Have already asked the reputable shop here and none of them mentioned about price drop.

Instead of price drops, they will tell you that price increases. :bsmilie:

I think there is indeed a dip in prices for some. Last check yesterday. Below are prices in May and yesterday.

EF70-200 F4 IS
Was $18xx, now $15xx

EF70-200 F2.8
Was $19xx, now $18xx

EF70-200 F2.8 IS II
Now $27xx. I do not know the street price prior to this.

Think the f4 price dropped quite a bit.

What did you buy? I called them and the price of the EF 35mm f/2 IS is still mad high. Price in USA has dropped to USD$500 and our local shops are still selling it at S$1,020 Nett. Seriously what are they thinking?? Singaporeans very rich?

because of this 'safe' reason, that's why the camera stores in sg are able to rip the consumers and chop carrot heads i.e. the ppl still opt to buy locally despite crazy pricing - what u get is a 'push up' demand curve, ready to be ripped to pieces. i wont be a carrot, i will walk away and buy elsewhere.

and btw, bhphoto & amazon are not the best places to get lenses. FYI...

Maybe but i do believe those who can really afford to buy the 800mm would not be bothered about the savings, target market its not for those on a budget.

That's a likely explanation but by no means is it a justification for retailers...

Glad prices are coming down as they have become less and less affordable. :)

Saw Canon advertisement on newspaper yesterday, some lens is on offer. Too bad, my pocket not deep enough.

I don't know if this is linked but TS-E 17mm used to go for 3.3k now it goes for 2.7k with local warranty!
