Canon lens hood - No stock in S'pore?

Anyone tried the 3rd part lens hoods sold by shutter central?

Do they fit well to the lens?

Since it's not the original, I'm just afraid the manufacturing precision may not be as accurate as Canon's original, causing lens vignetting or difficulty mounting/dismounting the hood to the lens. (Asked SC this question but he didn't reply directly cos maybe in a rush?)

Thanks.

That's the problem with 3rd party stuff - QC.

Different batches might work differently so the safe way is to test them out before buying them. Other than tight/loose fit, I don't think you have to worry about vignetting if the lens hood is specifically designed for a particular lens.

Got mine from SC, fits well. As long as you buy the hood for your specific lens you won't get vignetting.

Can OT, you already did. Hehe.

The typical cost is $40-60 as mentioned, but there are some exceptions (the 70-200 f/2.8 series) that are a little more pricey, nearing a hundred.

but the hood for the 70-200 comes free right... mine for sure is come free one... i last wkend oso running around town to look for a real canon ef28mm hood... no one selling too.. wrote to canon to see if where got sell... waiting...

have you tried Canon Singapore outlet at harbour front? Or maybe can try calling. I understand that there are some accessories that retailers do not bother to stock.

FYI: Got the lens hoods for my 50mm f1.4 (Canon ES-71II) at Orient Photo at #06-53 Sim Lim Square for S$40 cash this afternoon.
