Canon Lens 50mm f1.4 / f1.8

Both the 1.4 and the 1.8 have their own fair share of problems.

Knowing that you are looking at Canon 50mm lens. But if you shoot low lighting alot and want sharpness, get the Sigma 50 F/1.4...:thumbsup:

I used the canon 50 F/1.4 before. Image not sharp at F/1.4...:cry:
If you really want to use Canon, get the EF50 F/1.8 if $ is low or get the EF50 F/1.2 L if willing to spend...

I am currently using the EF50 F/1.8...Sharp at F/1.8...:thumbsup:

The 50mm F1.4 is known have motor breakdown and recently I have realised that lens is equipped with Micro-USM and not Ring-Type USM, Canon website never state that clearly. The difference is speed...Micro USM is probably between the normal AFD motor and Ring-type.

Anyway I owned the 50mm F1.4, it is a nice lens to have but I wish for something better like the 35mm F1.4L right now.....

IMO, canon is about 100 less than sigma once you add extra warranty and hood. Sigma sounds like a better long-term buy

get the EF50 F/1.2 L if willing to spend...
