I'm afraid I'll still have to choose the HF S10. I tested a display unit (at Vivo Best) of the Panasonic 3MOS camera (TM3000?); the encoding rate was horrible. Maybe the display set was faulty but I got same problem with 2 models. The SD card I used was Class-4; should be ok.

I'll love to review the Sony flagship and the Panny, but I'm not Ken Rockwell. Heh.. heh.. it be nice to get loaner sets. :)

Update: HF-S10 on the fig rig.

Ya, but the trade off is my set is NTSC and warranty is from japan.

is it me or im not used to this cam? its abit harder to have a clear shot when walking or moving.... compared to my pana gs-400 its much easier to do so.

Not so much issue becoz most TV are multi-system already. ;) I'm not too sure about DVD players, I guess they are multi-system too. If viewed from a computer, NTSC has the famed 24p look. Horray!

Yeah, I noticed this problem too. From what I found out, HD cam are more prone to shakes. Canon's IS compared poorly to Panny/Sony too. The solution is to get a Manfrotto 585 Modosteady.

:o

Is there a big diff from 24p and 25p look ?? can tell ?

Has anyone bought from this local website before:

The prices and free gifts seems better than what you can from the shops. I am actually eyeing the Canon HF200; the free gifts translates to a higher discount percentage than buying the HF-S100.

I have just bought a HF S10 from PJ. Do any bros here use 3rd party batteries; any recommendation for these batteries?

Guys,

Another newbie here. Bought my Canon Vixia HF S10 from the States about 3 months back after the launch, with these accessories:

*Sandisk Class 4 SDHC 16GB Video HD
*Sandisk Class 4 SDHC 8GB Video HD
*Canon BP-819 extra battery
*Canon HTC-100 Mini HDMI Cable
*Hoya 58mm multicoat lens protector
*SDHC cards wallet

Tested Panny TM300, HS300, Sony HDR-XR520V, Canon Legria HF S100 & S10 extensively before finally decided to go for HF S10. The initial launching price in Singapore was rather ridiculous expensive I must say. So far very pleased with the camera performance, portability, & shooting results. The only complaint for me would be the Pixela video editing software that is utterly useless. Decided to settle for Corel VideoStudio Pro X2 instead, with good & easy to use video editing & conversion tools. No issues with NTSC compatibility as long as playing on those new gen of HD compatible LCD TVs or PCs. If needed, Corel can convert your NTSC into a PAL format based on desired TV screen aspect ratio.

Still an amateur, hopefully I can develop my video shooting / editing skills & knowledge in this forum. My other area of interest is photography, which is considered as another beginner level after investing in my first m4/3 DSLR (Panny Lumix G1). You'd probably see my G1 posts there as well.

Did you encounter flickering problem with yr NTSC cam? I intend to get HFS10 from PJ but the flickering problem under certain lighting conditions worried me

Did you have flickering problem when shooting indoor? Heard that indoor lighting causes flickering with NTSC in PAL world
