I will be passing through Singapore in the near future and was wondering if anyone could tell me the current street price for the Canon HV20 camcorder? Also, does Canon provide an international warranty with this camcorder? Thanks in advance.

Around S$2000 (7% GST inclusive). Not sure about the international warranty.

 Are you sure this is not RRP?

That is about the same price as here in Australia which is very surprising indeed!

Hmm do not forget you get to get back your tax at the airport which is around $100 plus :D

i know one at ang mo kio central, MS Colour selling around s$1845 for HV20.

U will need to pay in cash.

If buy in Singapore, if I am not wrong, should be only local warranty. Like that must well buy from US sites or Japan's pricejapan.com, but those camcorders are in NTSC.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Given the similar pricing, I ended up buying the HV20 here in Australia. Total cost with Australian warranty was S$1885. All I gotta do now is to figure out how to use my new toy :bsmilie:

I wonder why SG prices (at least for this model) are such high? The US price for this camcorder starts about U$650 what should translate to a healthy range of SGD1300-1500 at most and the above from MSC still holds (1845 gst exclusive btw) all this with the Christmas shopping rush over and with the new HV30 already emerging on the market.

MS Color is not selling it for S$1845. It's S$1999 - I just called and spoke to the guy there..

Hi,

I called Cathay Photo @ Peninsula Plaza today and was quoted $1,800 w GST for the HV30. The HV20 has been discontinued, so you might be able to get a good price from the shops which are trying to clear stock.

BTW, I went by a shop at Toa Payoh this evening and was quoted $1,919 w GST for the Sony HC9, which is comparable in specs to the HV30. The good thing about the HC9 is that it comes bundled w a dye-sub printer (retailing for $199 I believe) + Sony's Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Edition. So the pricing for the Sony handycam is pretty competitive.

Happy shopping!

Does the HC9 have manual settings like the HV30? Last couple of Sony cams I looked at did not have any way to set the shutter speed, not even a sports mode. The HV30 lets you adjust nearly everything which is great when you need it.

was at marina square cathay photo.

HV20 - $1450 (2pcs left)

HV30 - $1850

spare battery , carrying bag and 1 HD dv tape.

im still undecided which to get... haiz...

wah, HV30 is having a great price! I think Alan photo may sell for 1750 if cathey can sell at 1.8k.

heard the street price for HV30 is not SG1600 range

any updates on the price for hv30... I'm planning to get one..

$1750 inc GST at Alan Photo

I just got the HV30 from alan photo HV30 (eos bag + 1450mAh batt ) $1750 + HMC uv guard filter ($40) .... ok or not the pricing?

didn't plan to get the UV filter... but adviced by the uncle to get it.... what you guys thing?

how to fix the uv filter?, just screw it to the front part? once I attach the UV filter, do I have to buy a cover for it? the filter seems to be exposed...
