hi S$1550 is the cost of the camera actually without GST. you are still entitled to the canon promotion which i believe will be coming out next month(just be sure to retain your warranty card). Currently this camera trade is more or less a perfect competition . thus everyone can only quote at the cost which is 1550.

20D body only is $2600 , and the kit is $2800. these are the costs of cameras. No one can get lower than anyone because it will be unfair(canon wun allow it). Especially for SLR cameras. the volume = lower prices doesn applies in this trade. Canon still wants to retain its reseller breath and giving preferential pricing to any resellers would enrage other resellers. and crowding out would occur in the camera trade (meaning - war)

actually i not suppose to tell you the costs but anyway ... if you all getting canon we can try building long term on this forum. And of cause, prices wise will always be the lowest. Any one wanna email me? xynapse@pacific.net.sg

I called Canon yesterday about the Promo and they tell me that there might be a Promo in the coming Sitex Show. Is it in end Nov?

Could we wait til Sitex? I suggest we get quotes now and compare with the bundle in Sitex before making a decision. I have asked quotes from Cathay, Allan, MS Colour (Dan, sorry for the duplication at MS Colour). Can some of you get quotes from other shops as well?

For the purpose of saving serve space, please reply only if you do not agree or have a suggestion.

Ray, sitex starts 25th Nov at Expo. I believe prices will be higher than what we can get now, but bundled in with lots of (IMHO useless) items.

But what's not useful for one, maybe be crucial for another, so we'll have to see I guess. Btw, I've asked for an e-quote from MS Color for 5x300D, 1x20D with various lenses and accessories added. So we'll see if the price gets better. ;p

nope , a fren who work in a camera shop told me . As a photographic enthu myself it was interesting to see the happenings in the field . Just to tell everyone that everyone on the market can offer the same price.

It jus depends on how much they want to earn, but singapore is such a small place, price wars happens all the time as consumers like us go from shop to shop to ask about the lowest price. (somemore now got internet)

thus it happens to a point where the camera is jus going at the cost. But of cos the shops would earn on the other stuff i guess. I think that is reasonable as long as they do not over price the stuff too much .

By the way have you all sign up for canon plus? heard that its giving out ipods when you reach a certain number of points...
