Canon G11

Anyone knows how much this costs?

I had a Canon G2 nine years ago for $1,300 that served me well... been using the ixus series since... Now wanna go back to a medium range digicam...

If you still have your G2, & it is already RIP.. then can goto Canon Service Centre & get the G11 for $714.

;)

i still using my G2 lay.:bsmilie::bsmilie:

Me too got the G11 recently and it can take good picts if you know the settings.

A silly question: In terms of focusing speed, G11 vs S90 which is faster? Is their focusing speed comparable to DSLR's? Thanks.

For specs wise, G10 is much better than G11... what do you guys think?

Nope. Megapixels dont mean a lot. The G11 sensor is also more sensitive then the G10, enabling better pics. The reduce of 4 megapixels (if I remembered properly) means that the pixel size is larger, resulting in sharper pics.

Hi everyone

i have just bought a G11 and had been using those idiot-proof camera all my life.
i read from the product page that this camera has the ability to blur the background and focus on the subject by using the AV mode?
i used the AV mode but the background is not blurry at all.
can anyone teach me how to get that kind of effect?
thanks :D

note that it's much harder to achieve this shallow DOF effect than DSLRs due to the much smaller sensor.

1) zoom your lens to the max
2) "open up" your aperture, have the smallest f-number possible
3) ensure there is enough space between subject and background, instead of say, leaning against the wall.

hope this helps :)

Hi newbie here..
any advises btw G11 & S90?
I've been playing with ixus all along but wish to upgrade to powershoot series but somehow got caught in my decision btw these 2 models..

I've been thinking of getting one of them too, but can't stump up the cash...

S90 is smaller, and has the faster lens (f2.0 at widest focal length).

But the G11 has the much better handling: dials for ISO(even DSLR don't have this ;p), EV compensation etc. It's grip should be more substantial. The decisive factor in my opinion is that it has a hotshoe, so I can use my Speedlights on it.

It's up to the individual preference I guess

Martxx, u mentioned "teleconverter and the website address" in one of your thread. How good is the teleconverter is giving the added zoom from the given 5x optical zoom that the g11 has? Do you own the teleconverter btw?

Taken at Portsmouth, UK at night using f2.8 and ISO800 settings.

if compared to quality pics, sx210is is beta or the g11?

any suggestion on where to get G11 camera case (not underwater)?
