The camera is not out yet but Hong Kong street price is quoting @ HK$3,980 (~S$737). Not sure how Canon Singapore is going to fixed the RRP at...

Just realized Japan Canon will launch G11 on Oct 2nd.

Not sure how long it is going to take to arrive in Singapore. For Hong Kong, usually is within 2 weeks, you will have the Japan gray sets arriving and maybe another week, the local sets will be available.

Yes its there already....I was down at the showroom today. Together with 7D....

No sign of S90 yet tho....the showroom staff mentioned coming soon...when queried he also wasn't certain...he said "maybe another week or two" :dunno:

Actual release date of S90 is somewhat same as the 15-85 IS USM lens I reckon.

I can understand the appeal of a real compact like S90 but not sure if the bulkier G11 is starting to look irrelevant with introduction of EP-1 & GF-1. Both have better resolution & flexibility of changing lenses.

the price i got from a friend in hong kong for G11 is HK$4200...

the price i asked from click! tampines 1 (level 2) is $800, inclusive of 8gb memory card & screen protector...to include the leather case for the camera is $818.

G11's ISO 800 and ISO 1600 is usable at 10MP iirc. It comes with Stablized 5x Zoom lens that retract all the way when it is off. That's the little difference between this and Pen/GF1.

Hi all, quick question...is a drybox required to store the G11 when not in use? I used to just rely on PnS so drybox wasn't really a consideration...but I am thinking of either the G11 or the Panny GF1...so is a drybox required?

I would give it iso800 at max. The iso1600 is not good for viewing.

The answer is always a yes. Regardless of anything, storing it in sealed and dry area will make the equipment last longer. Even a simple cupboard with dry agent makes a big difference.

Whether dry cabinet, drybox or just plain tupperware (with dry agent), they are just fine.
