Canon EOS 5DS and 5DSR

I have not buy, but have asked for quotes in June from shops in order to save up. 5DS $4.5k+ cash, 5DSR $4.8k+

If I am not wrong, should be Grey set now selling at $4518

I don't think so. :)
First week launch price lowest I found for 5Ds for local warranty set was already $4530 only.
Price slightly decreased after.

For $30 price diff I doubt anyone wants the grey set one.

Still using my old 5D Mk II with many EF L lenses. Use it a lot for video taking and landscape. Already Skipped 5D Mk3, skipped 6D and after seeing the spec of Sony A7RII, 5DS is no more an exciting camera. In fact previously almost jump ship to Sony A7R when it launched but faithfully waited for this 5DS or 5D Mk IV.

This time round direction quite clear, once the AF of Metabones adapter is confirmed works well with Sony A7R II, will say goodbye to Canon camera.

TK quoted me $4750 for the 5DSR this afternoon.

But r u comfortable with EVF coming from DSLR? I cannot get use to it. Ever. I met a pretty well known architecture photographer who uses the A7R and he hates it's control/function for day to day photography and only uses it for the DR. He doesn't bother to use the EVF. Activate the shutter via the iPad. Haha.

I have previously tried the EVF on the sony old model. A bit fake feeling. By the way, my eyesight is also no good. I also struggle a lot with 5D MkII. I use handphone with DSLR CONTROLLER to assist me. I just felt that Canon is very slow. All the new models always got this than lack of that, got that then lack of this. Also very sick of their wide angle lens. Don't know when can they catch up with Nikon 14-24. Waited for many years for their new 50mm L, and now settle with Sigma Art 50 1.4. Even Sigma is improving fast and made me change my mind from skeptical to shock when I first used their Art 35mm 1.4.

What's wrong with the new ultra wide angles like 11-24, 16-35 f4? Cos not f2.8?

Ya what is wrong with Canon wide angle lens? My nikon fan friend was actually disappointed with the 14-24 bcos of the obvious distortion that he sold it as soon as he found out that it is impossible to make it less obvious. Has bkling1 used it personally?
I found it puzzling that bkling1 said he has used the 5d mkii a lot and still say he is struggling with it. 5d mkii was launched in 2008 n 50mm in 2006. What cameras n lens and which year of launch were you comparing.

Hahha ya ... I was wondering wtf was so difficult with the 5D2 ... thats like the most straight forward camera to use compared to today's 'high-tech wifi enabled everyone needs 4k' compact cameras.

A lot of pros made their breakthru via the 5D2 6 years ago and its a amazing camera back in 2008. So many award winning picture were also done with the 16-35 and its not that far off from the nikon 14-24.

I'm a little confused. lol

I saw a piece of brand new 5DSR at Ben Photo $4200. Apparently local set with receipt.

Feel free to contact him and update us in Consumer Corner thread :)
The email add points to Jakarta, btw. If you happen to be there occasionally you could save the hassle of sending money and waiting, waiting.. ;)

I have been reading of some delayed in reviewing image after the shot was taken.
Has anyone experience this on their 5Ds/r ?

Yes, it will take sometime for the writing to CF card due to filesize. You will not get almost instant review like the other Canon cameras.
