Today I will be renting EOS 6D for tomorrow's company event, I will see whether am I comfortable with
this body.
Coming weekend I got two event, if I find 6D isn't that good for me than I will go for 5D mark iii.

After much consideration, I have finally gotten the Canon EOS 5D mark iii as before I brought it.
I rent it first before buying, main thing why I get the mark iii is because the 61 AF point allows
me to compose my shot properly during events.
(At first I wanted to rent 6D but ended up with a 5D mark iii)
Thanks to everyone for your opinion.

Finally u bought it.
Congrats and enjoy your new toy.

Congrats 86proshooter... you have a great camera.

Congratulations, been following this thread, finally i get my camera as well, am not as lucky as you though. I get my 6d ;)

Well, I owned both the 5D3 and 6D at one point. I can tell you the 6D easily matches 5D3 in everything. Of course, the limited spread of AF points on 6D means you need to shoot at slightly wider angle and crop after that... but in terms of accuracy, it's great!

Not sure if 6D has done any upgrade to the firmware for AF, at the point when I had a go at 6D before it gets launched, I find the AF to be lacking. Although on Specs it says able to AF up to -3EV. But when we try it at low light it still hunts a lot. The 5D3 manage to AF faster in the low light condition. Another factor to consider is the AIservo. The 6D is not good at tracking moving subjects during sports. 5D3 is more of a all rounder with a solid AF. Dual card slots are also a life saver if you shoot for money.

The "extra" in 6D are features that you might only use once in a while. While the AF ability of 5D3 is something that you will learn to appreciate.

So far I'm quite happy with 5D mark iii (Expect my wallet. LOL!). AF is not only fast, robust and accurate.
Under low light it's able to focus very quickly.
The only thing is that I still have not fully utilized it to the fullest potential.
I still have lots of thing to learn and train on it especially the AF system.

I guess to each his own. I tested both side by side in super low light. No hunting. Accuracy as good as 5D3. That is why I ended up selling the 5D3. :D

True, if you are more of a portrait and still life landscape photographer, 6D is more then enough. If you want your camera also to do tracking of moving subjects and AF via the many AF point available rather than just the center point, then 5D is the way to go.

If you try using a 85F1.2 @ F1.2 you will quickly realise that the many cross type AF point in the 5D3 is important. Focus and recompose @ F1.2 often result in slightly OOF shots.

Totally agreed! This is where the 5D3 really shines. I LOVE the well spread out cross sensors on the 5D3 (it's far better than competition as well) when I used the camera.

the only pain is the navigation to the different AF points :)

You can use the joystick on the back of the camera to select the AF points. What's so difficult about that?

Depending on the situation, sometimes when the AF lock onto something other than my subject.
Or subject is block than I will need to select AF point to refocus on my subject.
So far I'm quite used to the AF but still have to learn how to use it further to compose my shots. :)

anyways, back to the original topic that was derailed by Doodah's sarcastic remark:

TS, get the 5D3 over the 6D.
