I'm a newbie here, I like to get Canon 550D as my first DSLR, and have a few questions:
1). What is this CSC priviledge scheme?
2). If buying from the outside shop not from IT show, does we get 2x8GB SD card or only 1 piece of 8GB SD card?
3). Buying from shop must pay by cash? any surcharge if use credit card?
4). Is it worth to extend the warranty to another 2 years? I asked challenger at IT show, they say $180 for 2 years warranty extention, then can buy EF 50 f1.8mm @ $89. Wonder is it necessary to have 3 yrs warranty?
5). If buy from normal shop, is it able to get the extended warranty from Canon? or this only applicable on IT show?

1)Hoya and Tokina are decent brands.B+W is even better.Hoya ones can go about $20 while B+W can go for about $60-$200.
2)Camera does not use lens hood,only lenses do.Canon has a specific type of hood for the specific lens.Check out CS's mass sales for prices

There is a Canon IT Show period promo of 8GB card and Crumpler bag. No need to buy at IT Show, but need to go to harbourfront to collect the goodies.

Thank you so much for the useful reply! The CSC priviledge scheme is great, 20% off is such a great offer.
Anyone have any idea, CSC scheme is it across all camera you buy also get 20% or it depends on the model wanna you get? Read other thread, higher end of EOS doesn't enjoy this privilege. Also hope Canon have stock, no need to wait. Yesterday IT Show, Courts booth sold out the 550D Kit II set, it's so crazy popular!

ISO400 for this picture. Noise can be seen.
Image are much cleaner in 350D at lower ISO. Canon, please stop your megapixel war. Else 600D will have the megapixel of 5DMKII. (like 450D hitting 5D)
Noise performance hasn't really improve, some models shows degradation. However, the megapixel count had been increasing pretty quickly.
Shot using this lens:
it's across all camera models.
Privilege program usually have to wait. time to wait depends on availbility of camera. I waited for my G11 for 1 month, while my friend only waited for 5 days. So it really depends on your luck.

Thinking of getting the 550D kit 2 @ $1600. If I were to get just the body ($1120) and use the price difference of $500 to get a different len, what would be the recommendations? I do general/travel photography. Btw other than the IT show, which other retailers are offering the 50mm 1.8 at $89? Thanks
