Very nice shots. 1st and 3rd shots are my picks. Any PP done to them?

trial and error works wonders. hehe

thanks GMAN. yup some adjustments during PP in terms of contrast and colors i guess
Good work. Well, for the 2nd picture, i've some tips for you. I kinda know what kind of compostion you are looking for in the 2nd picture, but the place isn't suitable. The skyline is beautiful, but the grass patch isn't. Look for a place with fine grass blades. Something like a scoccer pitch grass, or make sure the grass flows evenly. Not patchy patchy type of grass. As you can see on your 2nd picture, the bottom right hand side of the picture, the grass looks very little and the soil is being exposed.

Hope my tips help. Pardon me if i have offended you in anyway.

Nice pictures, but a little under exposed. The 2nd picture needs a slightly longer exposure, to provide a nice sunset effect.

Some photos taken at the year end block party

This lady is 65 year old. Amazing right? She is the leader of a group of senior citizens who go around performing for events.

Cool old school style of recording.

Hi,
i see so many nice photos, wonder where i can upload my images to figure out where i went wrong.

I was trying to take this at nite, with the 450d, used point focus and spot exposure.
Seems that the status face is always overexposed. Was focusing between eyes.

Also, how do i get the EXIF info out please? USed kit lens with the 450d

F-Stop - f/10
Exposure Time : 1.3s
IS : 400
Exposure bias : 0step
Focal length 55mm
Metering Mode : Pattern

Thanks, paiseh to post mistakes, everyone else post so nice pics :)

Thanks

Yeap, it's slightly over exposed. Try a different angle and a slightly faster shutter speed. Use a tripod as i can see some handshake present. Don't worry friend. Learn from it and become a good photographer. Don't give up. You can do it!

IMHO, I think that the problem for this photo is the metering.
Evaluative metering will try to adjust the exposure for the whole pic.
Try to set exposure to -2/3 or -1EV might help to get better result.
You can also try to learn more about the metering here.
Practice makes you better photographer.

I am a noob myself so don't flame me (too much at least) if I am talking nonsense here but I suspect from looking at the picture .. that there is a spotlight in the fountain that is blasting on the main status you trying to keep in focus. I think the camera is trying to keep the rest of the picture exposed properly (mainly dark) .. so exposes it more .. hence blowing out the status that is spot lighted.

Am not sure how to remedy it .. hoping some expert puts their 2 cents in so I can learn as well. HDR it maybe? :D

Quite correct, that's why i suggested a different angle. Or like JPlim said, use a different metering. Haha. So you are not that wrong.

Take care.

Hi folks,
thanks for the tips, indeed the bright spotlight was shooting at the figure. Will experiment with the various suggestions provided..... thanks

Two macro shots taken yesterday at Changi Beach. The second one is so grainy and all but im so lovin' the feel so I'll keep it.
