I was using my kit lens all the while until I was exposed to the 'L' namely 16-35 and 70-200 f/2.8 USM during my photog duties in church.

Now I am saving up for my first 'L'. Hopefully not too long before I can lay my hands on it.

Hi everyone, I am a 450D user and has been using the kit lens for quite some time. I am thinking of getting a new lens. Either a EFS 17-85mm or a EFS 17-55mm. Any advice on the two following lens that fellow 450D user is using now.

hmm 17-55 is a good choice:thumbsup:, though it's a bit expensive.. and it's in the same focal range as the kit lens..

if you have the extra moola i'll say it's a good investment, great for indoor shoots..;)

newbie here... wat do you mean by 'L' ?

'L' lenses is a line of EF lenses by canon that has superior build, weatherproof, professional and downright expensive. it gets u the envious ooks from other canon users when u're out there taking pictures.. all interested in the red line..

i've read somewhere in the forum.. once u get your first L, you won't wanna go back to EF-S, you'll buy more and more L, and the poison will stay within u....

buy 'L'.. be poisoned.

Yes the EFS 17-55 is a very good lens.I brought it to replace m kit and never regret it.Also the main things about the 17-55 is that it's constant f2.8.
For more review info, pls see the link below, that should open your thoughts.

Yes the price at a little costly but if you're thinking to use ur Crop body for long term, it's a great lens to invest in.
For your kit lens u can keep for travel usage or sell it to fund your new gears.

you can try to sell it away in the buy/sell section..

or give it to a close friend who's intending to get a DSLR.. so that there'll be a carrot dangling to make him buy a canon model.. :bsmilie:
