I went around checking the prices of tripods around the city hall areas. I was intro quite a good velbon travel tripod at J3:16, I forgot the model, its $155. 3 sections, twist and turn release of legs and comes with a small bag (not padded) and head.

I didn't get it as I'm not looking for a travel tripod and got a Slik instead at Cathay Photo.
Ooh, they have it back already. Goodie! I asked about like 2-3weeks ago. Haha.

Jumping ship so fast??
Maybe Nikon forum can help you more in this
Not really, thought of getting it as a 2nd camera. I'm looking into DSLR video photography. Quite nice, except the rolling shutter is a problem.

mind tell us how much u got for the tripod, perhap do a little review plus image if dat is possible.

I was initially quoted $140 for the Pro 340DX through an e-quote. But after comparing at the shop between 340DX and 330DX, I decided to go with 330DX for $145 as the extended height is more suitable for me as I'm 1.75m tall.

Apart from the weight, all seems the same. 330DX is 1.6kg while 340DX is 0.1kg lighter. =D
Comes with a pan and tilt head. It can operate in 3 different height angles. Max capacity load with the default head is 4kg. I mounted my 450D with EF 70-200mm f/2.8L on a super windy evening at Marina Barrage and its still as steady. =)

Picture shows that 330DX having silver legs but its also available with black ones. I got the black one.

By the way, both tripods doesn't comes with bag. I got a bag at $15, regret but heck, got it already.

Pics of the tripod, i will try to post it up later.

guys, i actually have a question now. i was looking to replace my kit lens as a general walk around lens. i am using 450D

i am considering buying 17-55 as a direct replacement. however lately i came across the idea of using 24-105L as my general walk around lens. i dont think i will sell my kit lens as it's small and light hence ideal for traveling.

i would like to use this replacement lens as walk around lens, shoot some portraits, candid, indoor events, outdoor street shots. which lens should i choose?

If i were you. I'll take the 24-105mm. Don't ask me why, it's a long explaination that i did so many times. Haha. It's really good. The f/4 of the 24-105mm has the sharpness of the f/2.8 of the 17-55mm. And its a L lens. It's cooler, because it's big....alright these are just lame reasons, but you should try the lenses and see which fits you better. For me, i'll get the 24-105mm, because i like its colour reproduction and sharpness, compared to the 17-55mm.

GOt the 450d and now looking for a few endless upgrades.

Whats a good flash to get?

Just for normal indoor photography for capturing moving toddler.

Thanks!

Well, if you need it for simple and near shots like a few metres(2m~3m) get a 430EXII for your Canon 450D. Otherwise, if you need something more powerful for far shots, get a 580EXII(Best Canon flash). For your case, i think a 430EXII should be enough. But some prefer to get the best one and forget about it on the long run. It depends on you, and your needs.

Hope it helps. One word of caution, don't use the flash directly on the toddler, it may cause blindness to occur as his/her eyes are not fully developed yet. A safe practice is to not use the flash directly on anyone. Bounce the flash against a ceiling or wall to get illumination.

Take care!

hi guys

i'm juz back from korea last night!! shioks man!! (the gals, the weather, the gals and the gals)

haha anyways i checked out canon prices there.. it's cheaper by quite a bit there actually if any of you guys are going there soon.. especially now with the weak korean won..

the 24-105 was going for 1million won which is about S$1100 with international warranty.. i almost almost got it but i had a funny feeling with the shop owner (very sim-lim like so i backed out and wanted to try my luck at the duty free in the airport)

in the airport duty free, they were having a 10% discount.. so the 450D with kit was going for like US$630 which is about S$950 i think.. but korean warranty only
the 24-70 lens was US$990 which is about S$1500. and the 580EXII was going for about US$342 which is about S$515 and also korean warranty

so sadly.. i came back with nothing because they din have the 24-105 there.. :(
and din wanna buy the flash coz it was korean warranty only..

and yes will put up some pics very soon coz i'm at work already 8 hours after i touched down =X
