28 is not really wide on your cropped body.

28 * 1.6 (Crop Factor) = 44.8

You want wide should go for anything that's below 17. But those lenses will cost more.

Indeed. The best bet for cropped bodies will be Canon EFS 10-22mm or Sigma 10-20mm. These lenses are designed for cropped bodies though.

For FF, it would be the fisheye, but its effect up to individual's liking.

sadly i can't go high on f-stop and shutter and low on ISO due to lighting.

It was so crowded that I can barely shoot without tiptoe. I just use ISO1600 Tv mode and set shutter speed between 1/60 to 1/80.

got a shot of the crowds? haha...i had to use manual mode. shutter at 1/100 fsize abt 6-7. the 1st few shots i had to use the live view and hold it above my head to shoot lor. its useful haa..

Yup, but portion of the crowd only. I was using my 70-200mm though.

Macro. Wonder how's the lighting condition over there. Most probably you'll see bigger toys too!

What type of setup do you intend to mount with the tripod? Do consider whether it's stable and sturdy to take the weight of your equipment.
