if you have a return policy from a reputable store, maybe you can try returning the camera. *highly doubt it in consumer unfriendly singapore*

pay by credit card. its backed by 30days consumer rights. u can stop payment & the shops will have no choice buy to allow a return. but of cos u pay slightly higher price for such protection. :)

wonder if canon has found a solution to back focus issue on lower end cams?

(ps. can't seem to d/l those images for pixel peeping.)

sheesh!!!..

I don't really know what the difference between 350D and 20D now besides the build difference, iso 3200, different batteries, but 350D is now the lightest cam on the market at 540g (lighter than the *ist=605g), 20D = 770g, 300D = 649

I look at
JPG output, 350D = 2.8fps for up to 57 frames in 30 seconds
Raw output, 350D = 2.8fps for up to 32 frames in 30 seconds (raw buffer = 6)
JPG Output 20D = 5fps for 76 frames in 30 seconds
Raw output , 20D = 5fps for 27 frames in 30 seconds (raw buffer = 6)

!!!!????!!!!!

they want to eat into nikon D70 market, but i hope and think they may also have to reduce the 20D's price as well. Hopefully the pro cameras could also follow suit and reduce by a couple of thousands, hahaha, wishfull thinking on my part. :sweatsm:

reduce a couple of thousand dollars ($2k?) where got enuf? at least 50%, then it will be the sale worth waiting for. :bsmilie: but then, a 1DsMII is still $8000++.

there are just so many amatuers/hobbist dying to jump into the pro bodies, if they just give me a 50% discount......

It is just a thought, but, what if the 350D firmware is used in a 300D? What would happen? Would the 350D features be then found in the 300D? It is like Wasia's hack but only this time, it is legal and by Canon.

Any comments?

Hmm ... i may not be right but...

Should not be able to since the DIGIC chip is different and the CMOS is different. But would seriously welcome it if there's such a solution.

One hell of a great little camera isn't it, might eventually buy one even. I still think the extra 1K+ for the 20D is worth it though.

It's very very unlikely this would work in terms of technology. Canon may also now have model detection in the firmware upgrade process to reject cross-upgrading.

In any case, you'll never get 8MP out of the 300D.

ah finally hit my weight threshold... :D
how much is the 16mm again?

heehee... i borrowed a fren's 1dmkII body in dec to use. mebbe its just my lousy techniques. but, i did find the spot metering pretty useful when both of us were out shooting in the hot sunlight of sentosa, compared to the partial metering on my 10D. then again, like i said, could be just me lah.

Hot sun= sunny 16 and compensate as required. No need to spot meter...

And my most importance requirement that no camera can give me is clear, steady and minimum light pollution night sky!

You mean digital? If so then I am tryint to convert you to film

hehe just joking

In bright sunlight, your exposure setting is basically:

Shutter: 1/ ISO speed
f/stop : f/16

give or take 1/2 stop (depending on subject reflectivity). Search the net for "Sunny 16" to learn more.

Wow, damn tempted to get one. If the noise level of the 350D is as good as the 20D, I'll dump whatever I have to get this. Maybe with a 17-40L and the new EF-S 60mm. Will meet all my photographic needs.

*throws VampTreSS a 580EX flash* ;p

So have u decided to get 350D or 20D? ;)

*Catch!*

Still need to ask? Heh.. :D

Repeat after me..

20D 20D 20D 20D *chants*

Interestingly, the EOS 350D didn't make as much of a wave in ClubSNAP at its introduction compared to the EOS 20D...why huh, why huh? :bsmilie:
