Another mistake, there's selective metering mode, check again.

no. i was right. the new 350D has the same partial metering as found the 20D (which is 9% at centre; same as 10D). this is not spot metering.

if u wanna talk abt true spot metering, its something like D70's 1% of frame. see the specs at dpreview for comparison. this is a major bugbear among 10D and 20D users who crave for true spot metering as found in the 1-series bodies.

Bad news... it uses NB -2LH (Powershot S30-S70) batt!! :(

Don't think Canon will provide spot metering for their semi-pro series. They'll restrict to only the 1 series. Dream on bros...

With that different batt, I think we all go for 20D lah...

yeah. at least we can still reuse the batts, tho they are of lower power than the 511A. sheesshh... lets see wats the RRP first? then again, i think i rather hang onto my 10D and use it till it dies. heck... who knows next yr, 360D comes in 11MP and 1.3x crop factor - ie mini 1Ds (almost, since 1Ds is full-frame).

I think they would be releasing a 20D replacement in Feb next year. Seems like a replacement comes out every 1.5 years (for the entry level and semi-pro DSLR).

maybe they produced excess batt grip for 10D now trying to clear stocks, so might as well incorporate to this 350D?

i think this look a hell lot better than the 300D...

hahha......they probabaly earned tonnes of money releasing the black body 300D and earn money to pay off the toolings for the mold and now extend the use and pasrts (leverage) for 350D.....
Smart move....

rgds,

Wow, tat's one nice body there...

I want something like an EOS 3D... a 1Ds Mk II in miniature...with the 45 pt AF, mebbe 6 fps, 25 frame RAW/jpg buffer, weather sealing, robust body, in a smaller package than the 1-series...

Yeah wishful thinking I know... ;)

Yah, no matter what, I'll definitely stick to my good old 10D. By far, I think the 10D is still the best of the lot that Canon has produced these years, excluding the 1 series of course.

However, NW75, I think we really need to start considering our replaced version already, cos the 10D is already into our 2nd year. :bsmilie:

come lah! lets go change our shutters together?

OT: i could be wrong again. but, isn't powershot batts a lower charge than the BP-511/511A dat are currently being used by canon DSLRs (not counting the 1-series)?

thinking thats how they cut down on weight.... since "DIGIC II is part of the reason that the Canon EOS Rebel XT is capable of taking 600 shots on just a single battery charge."

anyone notice on the picture...the material of the 350D seems to be better? it looks different from 300D and closer to 20D material.... could it a better plastic?

"Canon Rebel XT is more than 10% lighter and 25% smaller by volume than the Canon Rebel" - i guess thats why they can't use the older grips.... size difference

eh, your shutter 'kong ka kiao' already meh? You still using it during my last shoot of Chew Ling leh. What happened? I'm tempted, however, to go for a sensor clean at Canon. Recently discovered a lot of dust specks which cannot be blown away using a blower.

For my PowerShot G3, I use BP-511 leh...that's why I upgraded to 10D without any spending on my batts.

Sorry, a bit OT here. We suppose to discuss the new 350D! :embrass:

change sensor? ;p

no lah. my shutters are still fine. mebbe only replace them mid-yr, just to play safe.

but, the choice of batts are surprising. i thot they will still carry on using the already-excellent 511/511A...
