ok ok, i'll talk to your wife when i'm free :sweatsm:

50mm good for low light lor, cheap and good, can use it for potraits too. 85mm still about $600+, a bit ex.

350-400 ? then who ask you to buy in the first place :sticktong

Actually I had both 50 1.4 & 85 1.8, and I find my 50 1.4 more suitable for potrait then the 85 1.8, since the 1.6x factor brings the focal length to 80 1.4 & 136 1.8 respectively. 136 is a bit long for indoor potrait... which is why I sold away my 85 1.8 subsequently. But both are very good lens. So I would think 50 1.8 would be great for potrait too.

Thanks for the advise, Chopper.

Now, anyone can recommend a cheap wide angle zoom lense?? Sigma 17-70mm?? 18-200?? Tamron 24-135 (heard the focusing could be slow)?? Canon 28-105mm??

Thanks.

i just upgraded to it from a 300D, it really makes my 300D look and feel like a toy

actually 85mm is a better portrait lens that 50mm. 50mm will tend to distort certain parts of the face. the 85mm is a lot sharper too. 1.6x? i never had a problem with the 85mm even in a small studio except with full length shots. then again i mostly shoot 3/4 body and face shots.
