10D is a great cam to use...slower then its successors but i enjoyed using mine. i only sold it off cos i like my s3 pro better :bsmilie:

i'm also a 10D user, have been using mine for a few yrs with no complains..

if you are tight on budget, you can always buy the cam from your friend, its a good cam.

but do make sure you check it thoroughly before you buy it... :)

consider a 20D instead at least. only from 20D onwards is ISO 800 noise free. owned both before. :)

Sorry to hijack the thread here - a bit OT.
My 10D is quite worn and I am worried that its beginning to fail.
Sometimes it has problem getting a lock (focus) on image or even mis-focussing.
After passing the cam around, I am very sure its not my eye's problem.
Is this a sign that its dying? The pic count is definitely more than 100k as the numbering has hit the second lap.
Any reason why is my 10D acting that? Thanks

dont know about you, but how many good condition, really minty pieces of 10D you could find these days?

Still can find but fewer. When i got mine 2nd hand early last year, was in very gd condition. Now it's a bit more well-used.

Sent to Canon Service centre for a check.

I've also changed the shutter around 2 mths ago. 10D feels just like a mini 1D series. I also like the textured surface on the back battery cover of the BG-ED3 grip. 20D and 30D's BG-E2 grip don't have.

Yeah...seems like after the 10D, it's just cost-cutting for the battery grips, but the price of battery grips are just exorbitant!

Not really cost-cutting. Look at the price of the BG-E4 for 5D, it's over $400!

Cost cutting is only meant for the manufacturers not consumers. They find cheaper ways to make a $400 product.

U've got a point. When i got my BG-ED3 new from Canon, was $329. Imagine how much it cost to manufacture.

I love my 10D and have been using it for quite a while already. I chose the 10D over 20D and 30D becos it was built better and have a quieter mirror slap. If the next gen of DSLRs have the same or maybe quieter mirror slap than the 10D, then i may consider upgrading.

I really admire your fidelity to your camera! :)

I have an adulterous friend who switch from 10D-350D-20D-30D-400D-D40x-D200, (did I miss any?) and two-timing or polygaming multiple bodies most of the time... Not to mention his young and smaller bodied pns.

In the good old days, faithfulness was ...

Haha dun worry abt that. If u've the money, y not? It's all on personal preference so for now i'll still keep to my 10D. :)

That is a good way to embrace technology... nobody talk about faithfulness in this age :bsmilie:

Yeah in these days, money talks. :bsmilie:

How old is your 10D????

7 yrs itch soon???? :bsmilie:

I just got my 400D, and intent to hold it for 3-4 yrs.... things move very fast, but as long as what you have is sufficient, I see no need to upgrade....

TS's friend is selling it to him at $700. dont expect minty condition for that lor.
want mint buy new lor

Hi guys, im new here and i wish to pick up photography as a hobby.
I would like to seek some opinions on the EOS 10D. My friend would like to sell me at $700,a used one. I was thinking of getting it and would like to ask if its a good camera to start off photography with.

Thanks

its a great camera.
i have 2 of them and are still serving me well.

top up $300+ more and you can get a used 20D.
You will be able to use EFS lens, better noise control when shooting high ISO and longer battery life and other improvements

noise difference at high iso is very minimal between 10d and 20d.
battery life i dunno, but i shoot full day weddings on 2 batteries in the grip of my 10d.
end of the wedding at night, still full bar. thats >12hrs of shooting in a day.
both 3rd party batts.
think this kind of battery life is more than enuff for normal shooting.
