Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 L IS USM

Cool, but I have the non-L version.
I would say the IS really helps. 300mm is shiok !

Comparing the non-L and the L, the difference in performance and IQ is pretty substantial.

I would see how "often" I use it first to justify the upgrade to L ... Or else become white elephant ...
70mm is quite tight indoor, sometime outdoor as well.

The 70-300 is usually used for certain situations only. For me, I only use it for stage performances, events and some street candids.

I use it for some light bird photography while travelling, and for everything else my 15-85 cannot reach. The longer primes and 100-400 are too heavy for my purposes :D

I've no need for anything above 300mm so that's why i chose the 70-300. Previously was using the sigma one and always hoped that canon would have the L version and finally it's here so i faster grabbed. Other than those i also use to take planes and animals at the zoo.

Great lens i must say!! ;)

Yes, this lens can be used for birdie. Previously I have used 70-200mm for birdie but the extra reach should be much better. Just got it today and will be using it for the Kyoto trip hopefully can capture some eagle's shots there. :)
