M M_16 Member May 29, 2014 #42 I have tried the 50mm f1.8 on my 700D. For food photography it'll be too narrow, and the focusing distance is too far. I think you will often need to stand up from your seat to take the shot, or move further back, which might be a problem in a restaurant.
