Actually interested for the lens cap. Is it available for 82mm?.

The pricing for this piece of glass is not wallet friendly. If I were on fullframe i might go for the tamron 24-70mm 2.8 vc

More than 2k for a standard zoom. Add ard 1k can get the canon 24-70 f2.8 II without IS

More than 2k? The f4 IS is 18xx leh.

The canon sg press release indicate rrp ard $2xxx

I am unsure abt the street price

If I ever were to go for zoom, I would get the tamron 24-70 instead. ;)
But still hope to see more reviews first before further deciding :)

yesterday i saw SLR Revo already have stock.. but only 1pc, the price $1826

Really tempted to get this lens. Waitin to see more reviews.

I m in japan now, and everywhere's selling at arnd $1.6k (abt $$1.5k+ with 5% tax refund). I wonder how much are we going to be overcharged by our local shops for this lens?

SG is about $1.8k

Hmm..that's not too high a price...
Unfortunately it's almost the same price as the Tammy which gives you alot more....Search youtube, there are many reviews comparing the Canon f4 to the Tammy f2.8..
Sharpness and IS are identical...but the tammy has 1 stop advantage if you need it..

Having said all that, the 24-105 can be bought for $800 2nd here...so..that sounds like a better value no? Somehow to me the 24-70 range is something that if you wanna get it, get the best you can...if not spend the money on something else...that's why i bought the mk2..though alot more expensive, i know i have the sharpest and best 24-70 out there...IS isn't important to me..think of it like a prime i guess..no IS for the good ones either.

This I feel is very self-consoling.

Yes in terms of IQ, the version 2 performs like a prime. But still, it is nowhere as fast as those good primes.

In this sense, IS does come in handy, especially during those fight or flight situations. At least the IS will help to minimise hand shake, mitigating one variable which leads to blur photos.

Just saying.

The main attraction for me is the smaller and lighter size of this lens compared to the F2.8 version. I've downsized my body from a 5D3 to a 6D and now feel like downsizing my 24-70mm F2.8 too. A few hundred grams saved here and there summed up makes a big difference (to my back) when I travel. Anyway, here's a recently posted review.

Is this 24-70f4 supposed to be a kit lens for 6D? But there's nothing at Canon SG website for this kit set?

To be honest, the weight doesn't feel that much different from the 2.8 ii version. So if you are using the mk ii version already, there's really no point to switch.

I see.... so should just stick to the 24 - 70mm F2,8 L II............ :)

sgd1.8k for this lens??
I think it's seriously overpriced.

I checked out the lens at a shop and it is noticeably smaller and lighter than the 2.8 Mk2. The actual difference in weight according to the specs is about 205g. However at this point I won't be switching. Will wait for more photos, reviews and user comments first.

Smaller yes, but lighter not really, I really can't feel the difference of 200 grams to be honest, having handled both lens.

Maybe I'm too used to lugging my 2.8 ii with the 1DX around to really feel that 200 grams is going to make a huge difference.
