While waiting to be served, I helped myself to the free cappuccino at their coffee dispenser :D.. not top quality stuff but free wat :D

Canon still Can lah... of my Canon cameras, my old A40 and Pro 90 as well as my even older 35mm EOS systems (620 circa 1987, 5QD circa 1993) and AE-1 plus daddy's old hand-me-down EE-1 continue to work well... and I have a new toy to play with anyway :D.

Sure can refund?

just curious, for those who brought it down already, do they require the warranty card?? i think i misplaced it when i dug it out to call them to enquire abt the CCD problem 2-3 mths ago... now i only have the receipt...

Bring the receipt a long. if they ask for warranty card or receipt, then you show the receipt & say you've lost the warranty card. Anyway they clearly stated that if it's caused by the wiring undone, you'll get it replaced for free. So I don't think they would be asking for warranty card.

ok, just been there today, they didnt request for the reciept or warranty card.
i guess if you have sent them their portion of the card, they probably will have your info once they key in your cam's serial no.

now just wait for their sms to collect the camera.

If they find tat ur cam spoil last time is becoz of the CCD issue, guess they will refund u ba....I not canon so can't say for sure....but tink they can check from their records why u repair ur cam last time....just go fill up the form lor....

i think something is wrong with all these CCDs produced by the same company. on dpreview.com so many brands are reporting CCD advisory notices-konica minolta, fujifilm, sony and canon.
hopefully the brand of the camera u have allows exchange for the camera if the CCD fails.
Fujifilm is offering exchange in the US even if warranty period is over

I asked the canon counter staff about refunds for those who have paid for repairing the ccd fault. The fella said that the customer will have to visit the Harbourfront repair office with their invoice from that repair. Once they confirm from their records that this is due to a similar problem for the listed digicam model, they will issue a refund. Not clear if this is on-the-spot refund or needs a couple of days before they post you a cheque etc.

i send my cam there for repair on mon and on wed they sms me to collect... got it back yesterday :)

Does it matter if the camera is out of the warranty period? My A70 is two years old, and the CCD just died recently.

No problem. It is a manufacturer's fault so warranty is not an issue... just like you sometimes read about car recalls for safety/design faults in certain models. Not bought in SG they will also repair.

Most A70s should be over a year old anyway.

all right man .... going to send my trusty V3 for repair tomolo :)

I sent my camera to Canon for repair, and they've confirmed that the CCD sensor was defective. I was offered to 2 options:

1. Repair my existing IXUS II, but that will take more than 2 months. Parts are not available locally.

2. Replace my IXUS II with a brand new IXUS 50, with immediate stock.

Both option were FOC of course. Without hesitation I took option 2. Replacing a 3 year old 3.2mp camera with a brand new 5mp camera, good deal don't you think. Excellent Canon support team.

For the refund process, there are a few ways. Bottomline is you will need to fill up the refund request form, and return to them, can be via fax, email or submit at the HarbourFront office. Supporting documents would be the invoice issued.

For my case, I sent in 2 sets of A70, my own and a friend's, in late September. Saw this announcement in mid October, and called Canon. A customer service representative called me back, and emailed a soft copy of the refund form to me. I filled up everything, scanned the invoice, and attached the image to the reply email (fax failed despite many retries).

You should get your refund within one month, otherwise call them to enquire. The cheque for the refund arrived in my mailbox today. ;)

Ppl who have send and receive back their camera because of the CCD problem, do anyone of you all find that the image quality is totally screw up?

I send my IXUS II for CCD replacement, took it back, happen that it can be use but the picture quality is so bad! The noise level is totally crazy than before. Took some group photo, most face can't be seen.... :complain:

went down to the service centre yesterday.
because i always encountered the change batter pack error.
the lady told me this is not a CCD problem, then told me its due to oxidation of the battery lid.
offered to help me clean. is she saying the correct thing ??

No one encounter the same problem? Will be heading to Canon soon to ask them for an explanation! ;(
