any updates from Canon regarding 500D kit2?

I have made my order for 500D Kit II on 16/12/2009 , Canon mention that earliest date of collection is around 25 Jan 2010, suprise that The Canon their self have take that long to deliver.

But i call them every week so the feel the pain as well as we wait...;p

If you cannot wait go buy outside. You want to get things cheap still want it fast.....:thumbsd:
The buy back programme is a privilege not an entitlement.

i had also waited patiently for the arrival of 500D (for my bro-in-law) since 31/12/09. I didn't receive any sms, so I just gave a call to check yesterday and was told I can collect. Went down to collect yesterday.

Like what some bros mentioned here, its a privilege, not an entitlement. I guess the wait is worthwhile since I can get rid of one of my old cam, and at the same time can get a 500D at a discount.

I think a lot of people has the wrong perception about this Privilege Purchase program..

it is true that lots of people abuse the program and make use of it to get a new camera.

However, the program was started by Canon on a goodwill basis to their existing customers, who have faulty camera that is beyond economical repair to upgrade their faulty camera to a new one. At the same time Canon can retain these customers. This is a Win-Win situation.

If you look from the genuine customer perspective, even if he send in a faulty camera for repair, he would also like to have the camera repaired as fast as possible. On the same note, he would also like the replacement camera arrived as fast as possible as well. This goes the same for all equipments like mobile phones, TV etc etc...

As such, if you look from this perspective, wma2001us is not wrong in calling them up (assuming he is an genuine customer), although he may have phrase the sentence wrongly in his post.

just mine 2 cents worth.
