I think they revised the price because they can getting too many traffic hits from Clubsnap.

$110 increase overnight? and right after TS posted the price?... hmm...:dunno:

I don't think there will be no shutter count, even if they don't allow people to test. During manufacturing, the testing would already been done by Canon. :)
There is always a way to reset the shutter count before it goes out the factory door. It can be control by software program there. Don't be fool by salesman that these are QC shutter testings.

I ran the shutter count software HERE when i first get my camera and the shutter count reported is exactly the same as the no. of photos I took during testing. I brought with me a freshly formatted CF card when I went to buy the camera and the frame no. starts at 1...

True. For me, as long as the count don't shoot pass 50 or more, I can take it lah...

Thanks for sharing with us the tool to obtain the shutter count of our cams.

I am actually not that particular of getting a zero shutter count camera. I forgot to mentioned that I only check the shutter count after I went home just for fun...

But I know some people want to test several copies of lenses/bodies before deciding on one but also insist on zero shutter count.:sweat:

Oh, as far as shutter count on a new camera, the shops can always reset the CF card's photo no. to zero after people done testing them to make it looks like it is brand new but once you ran the software shutter count, you will notice the discrepancy between the actual shutter count and the no. on the CF...

correct me if I'm wrong but 5D Mark II's shutter count is reset every time the battery is recharged?

You are confused with the battery info. Each battery now has a chip that tells you the % of battery left and the estimated no. of shots remain with the battery (estimated). Once you recharge the battery, this info will be erased and reset. But the actual shutter count is stored somewhere inside the camera.

Hello, Harvey Norma @ Funan quoted $5192/- for 5dM2 with the same kit lens. but didn't buy because of shutter count which I wanted to be 0

i find harvey norman prices tend to be quite competitive these days...

Do they ship internationally?

I don't think they do online business. Plus, you will have warranty claim problem since the camera will be a Singapore set which you will have problem claiming warranty outside of Singapore...

Where are you from? Usually Singapore is not the cheapest place to get camera gears. USA and perhaps Hong Kong will be cheaper?

Actually, I was indeed referring to the shutter count as stated under the Battery Info menu. Initialy I thot it would be permanently there, but reading the manual, it says the info will be erased after the battery is charged.

But I understand what you meant is the inherent shutter count that can be checked like any other DSLRs.

So say at the shop, how does one do that on the spot? Is there a way to check the shutter count without going down to Canon or using software?

Depending on the outlet salesman. I think funan outlet is trying to remain competitive with other players hence the price tag. If you try other outlets, you will be greeted with ridiculous prices.

If you bring your laptop, you can use this software to check

You will need EOS Utility installed in the laptop in order for this software to work.

Yes, this is my experience as well. In Funan, they are willing to match other photo stores' price.

It works for mine. Just make sure the program resides in the Canon EOS Utility folder. Start the EOS utility before running the software.
