61-point high-density reticular AF (up to 41 crosstype points)
6.0 fps for high continuous shooting

probably this is the main plus point I see. But if I'd want faster, better AF with higher FPS, I'd whack 1DX :bsmilie:

Anyways, the "High Dynamic Range (HDR) Mode" seems interesting..

I think the RRP of 5DMII will be adjusted down by $100-$200 on Monday, once the new camera is launched. That's what happens to all preceding models when a new model is announced. Just that the actual reduction in RRP varies for each model.

I certainly do not think anyone will "throw" their 5DII, but there's no denying that prices will only head 1 direction from Monday on, be it new or used, and that is......south.

Exactly!!...unless the reviews are so good until logic n rationality is overcome by BBB...then may end up suck thumb n just buy one...

61-points AF with 41 being cross-types ... isn't that the same as 1DX? wow... that's a big jump from the mark ii in terms of AF system.

no... just buy the 1DX :bsmilie:

The NDA may have expired in some countries if I am not wrong, we should hear some confirm specs and prices soon....

If 5D3 is gonna be SGD4k+, wouldn't u rather get a 1D4 2nd hand instead? They are about the same price, no?

Yes. 1D Mark IV @ BnS commands $4,500 on average. In fact, that was exactly the price asked by the seller on the last 1D Mark IV I've seen on BnS..

Yes n no. For me,1D bodies are just too heavy for frequent use. And the 1D4 is crop n not FF, so not as ideal for landscapes leh. If I have a 1D body, I will still want to have a 5D body to complement it. Of course that means double $$$!!

Well they may fellow D700 oversea pricing... they drop US$500 from RRP....

Even if I could afford it, it's even heavier than the 1D4! not sure I want to lug that ard...combined weight with a zoom lens n a flash, I think I have to price in a few visits to my chiropractor also!

anyone know the weight of the 5DIII?

I see.. I am kind of used to the weights. Some of my friends say I crazy.. do street photography for hours using 5D Mark II + 70-300L + BG-E6 + 580EXII loaded :bsmilie:

So for 1DX, the weight I am used to it, my Crumpler neck strap is very comfy :)

$4500 can get 2nd hand 5DII + 7D + accessories. Speaking from the perspective of upgrading from 500D. Hmmmm....

That's the heaviest set-up I've ever heard of for street photography!! :)

No wonder you need the 70-300L, must shoot from far far away, otherwise will scare off your subjects with all that intimidating gear!

so after tonight's sleep, we will wake up to a new 5DMKIII?

Yes i will be buying! Bday present for myself haha. Ive alr preordered with my regular shop. Thinking which of the current cam to sell now.

If specs is exactly what it says, i think its more than worth it. In my opinion i guess!

Yup, nearly 2kg of weight but the focal range of this L lens is very nice, allows me to capture moments like this:

If I do that with 50mm.. I may be in hospital right now already :bsmilie:

In fact, that was my default set-up. Most of my photos recently are shot on that lens, and it gives me nice portraits at 70mm to 100mm at f/4 or f/5.6. I took this set up to the recent (last Saturday) Cosfest X.2 for some shooting too :bsmilie:

Now I am trying to lessen my dependence on 70-300L and force myself to shoot with 50L for a different perspective :)
