[h=3]Interesting tidbit... the rear dial is touch sensitive during movie mode:

Touch-sensitive rear dial[/h] The rear dial on the 5D Mark III may look (and behave) like the standard Canon rear dial but it also gains a nifty trick - in movie mode it is now touch-sensitive. This allows you to make changes to setting without having to rotate it or click any buttons that might disrupt your footage. It can be used, via the Q menu, to adjust shutter speed, aperture, ISO, exposure compensation or audio level without interrupting the stability of your video.

But isn't that with the battery?

Yes. But I was kind of hoping canon would have made it lighter than the mk2.

I predict many (note i never say all) existing 5DII owners will come out and say something bad about the new camera.

Frankly from a neutral standpoint, there's really nothing the 5DII can compete against the newly launched 5DIII. The only thing it wins: it is cheaper.

5DII is nevertheless a good camera, but if I am looking at getting a new cam, I will delay buying for a couple of months and save up for the new camera. 5D2 in the resale market is still largely overpriced imo, and not really justifiable for its brand new pricing at this point given its age

spec wise it does but i do shoot outdoor sports and considering the grip of the 5D3 is also not cheap and I do continue shooting in the pouring rain, considering how much I paid for my 1D4 (2nd hand price) its not so heart pain lah...

 Guess you must be a pro

could you elaborate? not your prediction but how is the MKIII better in ALL aspect except the price?

Admit it la, Mk2 looks like a joke compare to mk3. Expect the value depreciate like landslide soon.

Hmm u mean all the specs listed for the 2 cameras are fake? It will be a pretty long list. Why don't u open up the specs of each camera in 2 seperate windows and tell us which are the same. Don't wanna keep repeating posting of specs over here.

Anyway this is just my neutral view. I don't own either yet. Do you own any of them?

I just withdrew my plans to get the 5DII when it drop in price. I am gonna save up and get the mkIII. I am fortunate because from now till then, I still have my trusty 5D classic to shoot :)

Haha, at the end they will say it's the man behimd the camera that counts.

While the resale price of the mk2 will drop, I think there will be a limit to how low it can go.

The launch price of the mk3 is roughly double of the mk2 resale price and the price gap will likely remain significantly so for a while. There will always be a different market for $1k+ vs $2k+ vs $4k+ cameras. This will correspond to the classic vs mk2 vs mk3. Diff people have diff needs n budgets.

I thought brand new 5DII is about $3100 at the stores? Got double in price meh?

Edit: sorry read wrongly, you meant resale. Paiseh :P

Haha, try shooting with the 75-300 crap and tell us that :)

looking at 5D3 VS 5D2's paper specs side by side, 5D3 is no doubt the winner on paper alone.

I am not sure if anyone is disappointed by the weight or not; I recall there was some excitement when the image of the actual body design was leaked from CR3 and people praised the smaller design because it is something that 5D2 users wanted - smaller and lighter.

Weighing 1KG after a round up, if you add on the battery grip, it is comparable to the 1D cameras.

After giving much consideration myself, I see the biggest winning point of 5D3 is the improved AF system and ISO performance, with weather seal. But if that's what I want, my decision would still lie in 1DX :)

This is one feature that I was hoping for!

From DPReview

Auto ISO Improvements

The 5D Mark III's Auto ISO mode now offers additional customization options. You can now set a minimum ISO as well as a maximum, and define a specific minimum shutter speed too. It's not quite the same flexibility as offered by the Nikon D800 with its multiple progam lines, but it's a big improvement over previous Canon implementations. And, unlike the 5D II, can be used in Manual shooting mode, allowing you to specify the shutter speed and aperture you want, and leaving the camera to worry about ISO. You can apply AE lock when working with Auto ISO in Manual mode and the viewfinder will show you the difference between the locked value and the current metered value. It's not currently clear whether there's any way of setting exposure compensation.

At the price of SGD$4300 ... Its getting further from hobbist looking to switch from their 7D, etc ...

Did Canon Singapore announce the local pricing? Did they say anything about the availability?
