Am intending to get Canon 550D from

Thanks people, I just came back from Harvey norman, they actually sell 550D together with freebies that includes, large tripod, 8 gb + another 8gb SDHC , canon bag, cleaning kit, uv filter , lcd protector for $1288.

worth it?

PLease check the Canon price guide. You have to make the decision yourself if it is worth it or not.

the tripod + 8G + canon bag (this is supposed to be free anyway) + cleaning kit + uv filter (should be the cheap filter) + LCD protector is not worth the extra $100+ to pay for.

my fren got her 550D + 18-55 lens (8G + canon bag) for $1190.

$1288-$1190 = $98 (why are you paying an extra $98 for 'rubbish' ?)

anyway harvey norman will also hard sell you extended warranty (NOTE: Its not CANON warranty but harvey norman), dun be duped into paying for it and end up paying $1400-1500+ in total.

Get from B&S. Aim at those with warranty. Deal at around $850 should be reasonable.

some shops will give u the LCD protector, it cost u ard $3 for normal ones (thats the same if not even lousier quality that harvey norman gaves), better ones cost $20 or more.

those tripod gives by harvey norman can be found at carrefour selling from $30-50 which is quite filmsy. u are better off buying a better tripod (good tripod can last u for a couple of years!)

cleaning kit, u just need to buy a lens pen and a good micro fibre cloth (ard $20 in total).

uv filter cost your $30+ for mid range (Hoya HMC or Hoya Pro1 digital), dun get a lousy filter and degrade your photo quality (usually those free uv filters given by harvey norman cmi)

in short, dun spend $98 on worthless or lousy freebies. spend a little more money to get better ones (in long term).

If you like HN so much, just buy from there. It is your money anyway. You need to make the decision yourself.

I wouldn't buy any extended warrant from HN.
